Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

So, Episode 1 was a Pike episode. Episode 2 was a Uhura episode. We know from reviewers (who have seen the first five) that Episode 5 will be a Spock episode and (I think) Episode 3 an Una episode.

With nine main cast members, and 10 episodes, I'm officially rooting for an episode focusing on each member of the main cast in Season 1.

hopefully Episode 10/Season finale will be a team-centered episode where everyone has their own moment to shine.

I think my one concern with them using "legacy' characters, i.e., the ones that end up on Kirks Enterprise, is that there's no real risk or sense of danger for the character. We know that they make it, so if anything occurs, we know that the outcome will be always be positive for them.

I gotta tell you that after watching the first two episodes, It pains me that the Original Star Trek series can't not be "Fixed" to the point where they can match this level of Quality (VFX wise). I mean I was so amazed at how well the VFXs were done. I'm a little envious.

I mean there's nothing that says they couldn't do it. Similar to the remaster they did few years back, but really go for on par VFX. Of course this site would probably melt down if they did all that.

You think the VFX of the original Star Wars is substandard?

The fan reaction would be spectacular. Something Something sacrilegious, childhood damaged, cats and dogs cohabitating.

Did you really think any of the main TOS cast was ever in danger during any of the TOS episodes from 1966-1969?

Yes there are plenty of episodes with scenes and lines stating that Kirk, Spock, Scotty, and Doctor McCoy where Dead; but in every one of those episodes they were going to be alive no more than five or ten minutes later.

Even has a kid of 6 I knew the ship was never going to be destroyed and none of the characters were going to be dead permanently because if that happened there couldn't be an episode next week. I didn't watch to see if they would die or be destroyed, I watch to see how Kirk & Co would get out of whatever plot complication the writers put them in in the first five minutes of the episode.

I find the people making the argument of: "There's no real stakes here because we know that the ship isn't going to be destroyed, and that none of the main characters are going to die..."
^^^
However that's been the nature of episodic/weekly television since the early 1950s for any non Anthology weekly show.

I don't know why you would expect them to change the 70+ years old formula here?

That would leave one episode about the ship ;)
