Not every actor has an obligation to be a lifelong superfan themselves. 2 words: William Shatner. His attitude towards fans is infamous. Much like Harrison Ford playing Han Solo - showing up, getting paid, doing press stuff, but having a disdain for much of the franchise and the fanbase. Ford & Shatner have a lot in common. ST is so possessive of its characters and its actors, but not all of those actors are looking to be identified as those characters forever, especially if they're moving on with life or branching into other roles (particularly outside of the sci-fi genre). Fans' expectations on ST actors can be a bit much, to put it lightly.
