The Down Under Lounge

They are just Amazon under another name, I was far from please when I found out that Amazon owned them.
Nowadays I am more likely to buy physical books from Booktopia, Wordery, or Better World Books as Amazon already gets my money from Audible and Kindle books.

I know this. However they have always had a bigger range of the books I'm interested in, been cheaper and shipped faster. Ever since Amazon made us go via the AU version it's sucked. There's a few countries that places like betterworldbooks don't ship to and people are pretty upset about his as Book Depository did.

Here is an amazing site!!

https://booko.com.au/

Search the book ISBN number and it will list all current prices including shipping from a huge range of sources. Obviously doesn't include % off deals for buying multiple books like some sellers offer at times.

Signing up gets you more accurate results apparently.

They are both super reliable.

Check out the link above though, it will tell you the cheapest really easily!

betterworldbooks currently has free postage after you spend a certain amount (I don't know what, wasn't big) and 20% off if you buy 3 or more used books. They do have the best filter system as you can sort by used, fiction, etc..

I'll have a look at both of them.
Got some neat hardcover books from Book Depository like Hurrell's Hollywood which is text but also chock full of photos from the period of stars and publicity photos that kind of thing.

For the first time EVER in my entire life I have forgotten to buy hot cross buns for Good Friday.

I blame this on them being available since Boxing Day. I forgot about them, they have faded into a the basic bakery background of life.

That's interesting because where I am they popped up in stores right after new years

John Olsen, well known artist, has died. I saw his Five Bells at the Sydney Opera House first in print and I thought it dull, but on a school excursion to the SOH, up close it was impressive. He was 95.

Jim Beaumont has died aged 97, 57 years after his three children disappeared.

I still hope they will be found some day.

I feel the same. The rumour mill says that the SA police do know more but don't want to solve the case because they would then look bad because for 50+ years they have been sitting on the information.

I don't believe that rumour. Many cases have been solved in the last few years that involved some spectacular police incompetency coming to light from decades ago. It's accepted that there were many systemic failures in the past.

It's hard to believe someone can live to 97 after that kind of pain. May he rest in peace now.

I felt the same hearing the news. Just sad they never got closure

my grandfather was in the S.A police at the time and I never thought to ask him if he ever had any involvement with the case (then again I didn't know much about his service except he rose to very high rank, was awarded the Queen's Police Medal and refused to every do a secondment to N.S.W because of the level of corruption).
