The Down Under Lounge

Fortunately there will be both DSC and SNW coming up so my purchase of a year of P+ hasn't stung too much. Also I share it with several other people who only want it to watch the Trek shows so that's a positive. Otherwise I've only watched Yellowjackets on it which is excellent.

Ad on TV just came for the "no campaign" for the Indigenous voice to parliament... I'm voting for it but the ad says if we all vote yes Australia will be divided.

Fuck Murdoch. It's been many years since I read any of his newspapers. I do look at the sports section with fox sports, but that is different to what is put on their front papers.

One thing with the referendum is - that I have decided on not saying how I will vote and pretty much ignore all discussion of it online.

Also, as today is Anzac Day - Lest We Forget. A few weeks ago, I found that about one of my late grandfather's uncles died in France in 1918. Didn't know about that. He died before my grandfather was born in 1924.

There's no way in hell I'll be "pledging allegiance" to a foreign monarch, this weekend or any other day. Ever.

If some people are comfortable pledging allegiance to a brainless coward who told his then-mistress he wanted to be reincarnated as her tampon (ffs ), they can knock themselves out. I have more self-respect than that.

Gabrielle Carey, co author of Puberty Blues, has passed away.

It was a generation defining book in its day, and was made into a movie and TV series. Also launched the career of Kathy Lette.

Same age as me. Disconcerting.

I look forward to the day when Australia becomes a republic. I am not watching some dude become King tonight. Watching Star Trek is much more entertaining.

I love Kathy Lette in interviews, she's so cool. Wasn't she the primary author of Puberty Blues? I always thought the film was far superior to the TV series and I always felt sorry for that one girl who by the look of it got raped
