Spoilers The Acolyte

I really wish he'd been in at least TLJ before dropping out of nowhere in TROS. He'd have made an excellent First Order senior character and voice of authority across most or all of the Sequel Trilogy. Then when he suddenly dons a Final Order uniform at Exegol it can be his last act of unswerving loyalty to Palpatine, the final decision in a career going back to the time of the Original Trilogy.
That would imply that anything in that trilogy had been planned out in advance.

Well, to be fair, TLJ didn't have time to introduce a solid villainous character such as Pryde when it was busy introducing by far the worst character of any Disney-period SW flick, Rose Tico. :p

I didn’t get the impression Pryde had been of the same or greater rank than Hux, but that Ren had reorganized the military after he took over, and was putting the old-school experienced officers (like the late captain of the dreadnought in TLJ) ahead of the Hitler Youth true-believers Snoke had raised from the cradle for loyalty rather than ability.

Or, at least, promoted them ahead of Hux, in particular, since they hated each other.

The most wasted character of the Sequels has no competition: Finn, formerly FN-2187. Even John Boyega was led down the garden path regarding Finn's importance, and he went from the second most important character in TFA to a glorified comic relief in TROS, reduced to screaming Rey's name in heated moments and playing a distant third fiddle behind Rey and Poe.

He was just a random Stormtrooper. Nothing important. :)

They could always continue his story with novels.

I think Snoke was worse. I mean, what on earth was he?

I barely consider Snoke or Phasma characters in TFA or TLJ; they're just one-note antagonists with only a few minutes of screen time. Rose, on the other hand, is a major character in TLJ, and her layers are both contradictory and bad.

I don't think Phasma was meant to be anything other than "the cool looking character who becomes a popular action figure" like Boba Fett or Darth Maul. Indeed, the actual intent in TFA was she got stuck in the garbage compactor and was killed when Starkiller went boom. It's only because Rian Johnson and Gwendoline Christie are friends that she was brought back in TLJ. And though she does end up getting killed there, there was a deleted scene establishing she may not be dead after all, though TROS clearly didn't follow up on that.

Agreed. But, her presentation in TLJ against Finn was a good contrast. But, yes, her silver helmet was "looks cool on top of things" like Maul, Fett and Jar Jar.
