Spoilers The Acolyte

I'll take names like Pryde or Elan Sleazbaganno over, say, Tobias Beckett.

(Savage Opress is indefensible, though.)

They even poke fun at the the name of Savage Opress in one episode of Clone Wars.

Someone is looking at the bounty on him and asks "What kind of name is Savage Opress?" pronouncing it you would pronounce those words normally.

Then there was the more obscure "Newt Gunray" - the head of the Trade Federation - whose name was an amalgamation of Newt (Gingrich) and "Reagan" reversed. An epically cringe (and somewhat dated at the time) political commentary.

"You can write this shit, George, but you can't say it!" - Harrison Ford.

Lott Dod. Mr. "THIS IS INCREDIBLE."

Clone Wars had a Kaminoan named Halle Burtoni, it was never directly confirmed by anyone on the show, but she was more than likely named after the oil company, Halliburton, which was criticized for its connections to the Iraq War and Dick Chaney.

At least they didn’t go with the original “Starkiller” name, although they finally figured out how to shoehorn it into the canon with that planet-gun.

I remember when the action figures for TFA were first announced, there was a variant of Rey wearing Finn's jacket from after she escaped captivity on Starkiller base. The figure was listed as "Rey Starkiller" which I mistakenly assumed was the character's full name. It made me laugh that the name which was considered inappropriate for a protagonist in 1977 was apparently okay in 2015.

Shoutout to all the paint eaters who insisted Rey was Luke's kid and that it was somehow "CONFIRMED!!!!!1!!!!!"

At least with the Sith you can explain it away since they are purposefully choosing their own evil sounding names.

My main problem with General Pryde was that he seemed to just come out of nowhere. TFA and TLJ carry the implication that Hux was the First Order's highest ranking military officer and that no one in the First Order is above him besides Snoke, and then Kylo Ren after Snoke is killed. Which the supposedly "canon" tie in material even confirmed. Then in TROS, there's Pryde, who outranks Hux and has been around since the Empire.

I really wish he'd been in at least TLJ before dropping out of nowhere in TROS. He'd have made an excellent First Order senior character and voice of authority across most or all of the Sequel Trilogy. Then when he suddenly dons a Final Order uniform at Exegol it can be his last act of unswerving loyalty to Palpatine, the final decision in a career going back to the time of the Original Trilogy.
