Spoilers The Acolyte

I have the original collected comic and the light saber is indeed red when Vader ignites it.
And I just looked at the Marvel reprint of it (supposedly remastered) and its green. I'll have to wait to get home from where I am now to check the Dark Horse reprint but I think it's green there too.

So someone at LFL is changing their minds back and forth on whether lightsabers are mood rings over the decades.

Issue 3 of the 1983 Marvel Return Of The Jedi comic :)

Those kyber crystals must be all in on the "death of one person is a tragedy, death of a million is a statistic". They're bleeding red over the death of Sol, or even just some evil thoughts from Vader in his comic book. Put into a Death Star to blow up planets that kill billions though, they're still as green as ever.

I think a certain, ahem, controversial announcement at Comic-Con is showing that the studio behind Star Wars and Marvel are going all in on memberberries and no matter how well rated Andor (or even Acolyte) may be, it's viewer count that matters and memberberries translate into views and that's the narrative that the studio seems to be going all in for.

So don't be surprised if Robert Downey Jr. is going to be the voice and motion cap for Darth Plagueis next season.

Do either of you have links for more information?
This is the most recent link I can find referencing it, but it's something I've heard about over the years: https://screenrant.com/star-wars-ahsoka-revenge-sith-anakin-poster-payoff/

Although the information seems to have gotten slightly muddled over the years. Anakin having a red blade was considered, but it seems to have only gotten as far as the concept art stage before they realized it wouldn't work with what they were planning for Mustafar. So not quite at the level of Luke's blade being changed to green in post-production, but it was a concept Lucas had already thought of long before the Disney era.

Everyone's acting like kyber crystals turning red were some long held lore but keep in mind as recently as season 2 of TCW, characters were referring to "the kyber crystal" as a memory crystal to access the names of children in a holocron. That was it. There was no mention of kyber being lightsaber crystals or powering superweapons. That concept appeared only in the unproduced TCW episodes and then they went full speed ahead with it in the new canon.

Because it's more interesting than "I'm gonna show everyone how evil I am by using a synthetic crystal in my lightsaber to make it red! Ha! Take that, nerds!"

The elephant-in-the-room question is: why hasn't any Jedi ever had a red lightsaber?

If a Jedi could have a red lightsaber, then bleeding as the origin of red kyber crystals would make no sense. Therefore, a necessary condition for bleeding to make sense as the original of red crystals is that no Jedi has a red lightsaber.

And that's the case: none does. So, if not that bleeding exists, what's the explanation for no Jedi having a red saber?

And Baylan and Shin have orange lightsaber blades in Ahsoka despite both being Dark Side servants and warriors in the service of Morgan Elsbeth and the Nightsisters of Dathomir. Not red, though in some shots the CGI blades appear reddish.

For the Death Star, I image the Empire just grabbed whatever huge crystals they could get their hands on and shipped them to the construction site. The Imperial military was definately not interested in Sith cult stuff and would rather just get the weapon working.
With Starkiller and the Xystons, they had far more time on their hands.
With Starkiller being Illum, I image Palpatine has great glee bleeding the planet's crystals.
For the Xystons, it is a Sith World....who knows how many Sith were there over the millennia. Plus a Sith cult and over three decades to do whatever they wanted. Plus I imagine Palpatine could bleed a crystal for a new Star Destroyer just to keep from being bored.

As for the Orange sabers....I wonder if flooding the crystal with a different strong emotion would result in something that isn't quite red. Instead of anger and hatred, what about passion?
