Because, as irrational as it is, I want to see Pike. I don't want to think about Jim Kirk, or his future mission. I want Pike to stand on his own two feet and go through this journey. It's not Kirk's journey right now to show.Kirk IS of the era SNW takes place in, so yeah...why not show Lt. Kirk and more of his character journey? I love the way they've woven his story so far. They’ve used him to highlight and develop the main cast Pike, La’an and Uhura have all benefited from having Kirk as a “sounding board”. Next season it might be Spock’s turn.
