Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

Maybe Amazon Prime Video P+ channel has it

It's guess its possible. I do have Amazon Prime so I'm able to get the Stange New Worlds main screen for the P+ channel. The language options does not list audio description unfortunately . Prime shows like Bosch does list it and is indeed available when played. So this makes me think it's not available even through Prime. I need independent confirmation first though from someone in Canada who has P+ via Prime.

My feeling exactly. To add insult to injury , it looks like the Ready Room is available on Paramount plus USA but I guess "God forbid" this little after show is taking up any extra bandwidth space on the ( seemingly inferior) Canadian version of P+ or even the Paramount plus Canada youtube channel. ( can't have self promotional material on their own youtube channel I guess)

Not a biggie as RR is available on Facebook and star trek.com. But it would be way more convenient to access it quickly on a loaded app thats on your TV, or using ...you know... the exact same platform the show its promoting is on?

So to summarize, Paramount plus commissioned audio description content for their Star Trek shows and made it available on their own domestic streamer . They made this content available to Bell MEDIA in Canada for use on their Crave streaming service , CTV Sci-fi cable channel and their ad supported CTV app (Bell media credits Paramount plus as the provider for the Audio description.). But they have not (as of yet,) made it available for the Paramount Plus Canadian platform. And Ready Room, a Paramount plus promotional show for Star Trek is available on Paramount plus USA but not on Paramount plus in Canada and Canadians are instead essentially told " oh oh for you guys, just go find it online"

Just a general plug for the show. After nearly 2 seasons I find myself really drawn to the show and the characters. Some of this season's episodes that I thought might have been mediocre based on the summary were really good. I find myself really enjoying the characters. It feels like an ensemble and not just the holy trinity of TOS. I like the new take on Uhura, Chapel, and Spock and like getting to see characters we were only introduced to in TOS like M'Benga and Number One evolve and being introduced to new characters like Ortegas and La'an. So far my favorite characters are Uhura and Ortegas with Carol Kane's Pelia not far behind. Pelis feels a bit like a Guinan type character (a long lived species) but instead of being a listener and dispenser of wisdom she's a bit of a hustler with her "collection" of antiquities.

That's brilliant.
And true. SNW has been generally quite good, but they don't seem to want to organically move Kirk into the crew. They're rushing it. This show easily has a couple-or-three seasons left in it (or more), at least, and they have moved too quickly to bring him in (IMO). Not a big fan of Paul Wesley's Kirk anyway, sadly. I've noticed in the last (singing) episode that he seems to be mildly embracing some TOS Kirk mannerisms - difficult to verbalize, more of an irrational feeling, really - so maybe he can start settling into the role a little more.

I do feel bad for Wesley, honestly - he's got big shoes to fill, like Chris Pine did, and lots of high expectations. I hope he's up to the challenge when his involvement in the plots inevitably grow.

I'm not saying it was Shran's people, but it was Shran's people.

Well, as we all know, Kirk is Star Trek. He must appear, no matter what.
Yes, we know.

My point is they're rushing it unnecessarily. This is Pike's crew right now. They've got time, and I haven't seen any indication that they're going to be canceled prematurely. There's zero reason to focus on him so soon. It needed to be a little better thought out and organic, IMO.

Oh well... Can't put the shit back in the horse...

Save for popular culture expectations of what Kirk means to Trek. That's why they are rushing it, otherwise the questions would be "When's Kirk going to show up."

No, I don't agree with it. I think Kirk should be far, far, away from Pike's story right now. But perception is everything now.

Kirk IS of the era SNW takes place in, so yeah...why not show Lt. Kirk and more of his character journey? I love the way they've woven his story so far. YMMV.

I think it's just overshadowing Pike's story, and I wanted to see Pike's story. I don't mind Kirk in small doses, but for me it hasn't really made much sense, at least until the Musical episode and La'An's song which might have made me rethink the Tomorrow episode.

I disagree. Kirk has appeared, what? 4 times out of 20 episodes? Not that overshadowing, but yeah YMMV.
