True but IMO that title and concept would work better in an area and time period we're not already heavily familiar with. Remember how much Enterprise got bashed for introducing new aliens?

Doesn't have to be like that. I meant more races like the Bolians and Tellaritrs. Look at what ENT did for the Andorians

Because the later based shows are exploring a new era, not the much smaller already explored region of the TOS era

I really feel like 72 episodes of the TOS are not enough to say it's "already explored."

That's a relatively small sample size of what's potentially out there in terms of strange and new.

Except we actually know very little about the Federation, even the core worlds. We barely know what its like beyond the border.

We know nothing about Tellar (I don't care what the novelizations say).

No. That's not what I'm saying. There are so many races the UFP would have known and making contact with in the mid-23rd Century.Why focus on the few we saw in TOS. Are you suggesting using the races we saw in Journey to Babel?

TOS is good but it barely fleshed anything out. I like how much DS9 actually used it's ensemble and fleshed out a lot of alien races instead of just alien of the week

I don't believe every UFP member was shown in Journey to Babel. Why do we have to "focus" on the races we saw in TOS, when there were likely unseen and unnamed races who were part of the UFP in this era, along with the neighborhooding races and the ones they would have been making contact at the time?

I've seen some fans say that Klingons were overused in TNG, and they didn't actually show up that often (aside from Worf obviously).

You're looking for something new in universe. A new setting, new worlds, etc. So, the idea is that it not only would be new to us, the audience, but new to our POV characters too. What I am saying, and you're agreeing with, is that there is less fleshed out things in TOS era. I just think we can use SNW as a "lesser known" era and flesh it out.

I've seen some fans say that Klingons were overused in TNG, and they didn't actually show up that often (aside from Worf obviously).

By focus I mean worldbuilding and expanding on the alien races, like what DS9 did for the Bajorans, Cardassians, Changelings, etc. If it's 10 episodes then not too many episodes but some kind of 2-3 epsidoe story arc.
