Well, I will go back to an earlier post...

You're looking for something new in universe. A new setting, new worlds, etc. So, the idea is that it not only would be new to us, the audience, but new to our POV characters too. What I am saying, and you're agreeing with, is that there is less fleshed out things in TOS era. I just think we can use SNW as a "lesser known" era and flesh it out.

Hopefully that made sense.

I understand what you mean. I just also like seeing what we already have get fleshed out, something TOS didn't do all too well, and while we definitely could use more alien races in that era than what TOS & TAS showed, I think seeing more of the ones we had but not enough of, or even underused Berman era species, would be more interesting to me in terms of expanding on that era

Whereas fleshing out an entirely new race in an unexplored region of the galaxy appeals more to me in a "current era" show because it doesn't run the risk of being restricted in terms of expansion and breaking canon (which can be avoided but is riskier in a prequel)

Because then we'd get more worldbuilding and background information on species we already know. While shows based in the current era post-Picard could give us new species.

Um...if you're going by current Trek - the 'current era' is the 32nd century; and even after Discovery Season 4 airs, the upcoming Academy show will be in the 32nd century. (Translation: Picard and the 25th century era is now a 'prequel Trek series' too )

I hope they change the costumes for season 3. I don't like this particular unisex costumes - the thick pants and long t shirt on the girls. it looks good on the guys but terrible on the female characters. it makes many of them look very bulky and shapeless.

TNG Jump suit unisex uniform were great on the men and women. Ironic in SNW Chapel is the only one who is wearing a jump suit and she looks good.

I hope in season 3 of SNW, Uhura, Ortega and Laan are given a brand new uniform that is more fitting and more girly-girly.

Yes, I know we are not in the 60s and mini lycra dresses wont work in 2023, however i hope the the female characters can still be styled more differently than the male characters.

No. Why? This is the future. They moved past these outdated Eurocentric gender roles. As far as I'm concerned, the more unisex the better. I have no interest in Star Trek due to ogling the actresses

I like to think of that as due to the influence of the time period it was written and filmed in. SNW is in that period yet far mor enlightened.

but yeah, the fashion industry (and beauty industry) is toxic and outdated and hopefully is gone by the 23rd century.

I found it more optimistic than enlightened but that might be pedantic on my part, which I'm want to do. It felt like, "Yes, I can obtain to that positive choice, " vs. "Wise man on the hill separate from the common man."
