I thought it looked off. I went back and looked at the ones Kirk and Archer wore and it’s actually a pretty good match.

Sorry, there are certain turns of phrase like "it's almost too (something)" that make me chuckle and look sideways at the same time. Like we can't have too much greenness or something. Just a weird tic in my brain.

Not really digging the wraparound from the looks of it. The costume designer needs to get rid of the shoulder pads on SNW uniforms. It feels like an attempt at making the TOS uniforms more formal looking like TNG’s, but it just doesn’t work. Should have stuck to the raglan design like the 2009 film did.

Pilot uniforms weren’t raglan-sleeved. Anyway,

I’m still totally astonished how the production design is able to successfully channel, but not replicating, the source material.

I will say the Pilot episode illusion dress jacket has a very DSC Era gold-accented feel to it. The gold stripes are close to what we see on DSC Season 1 and 2 duty uniforms.

Did they ever show Bolians on TOS? If not then detractors will claim this is some cannon violation. Maybe none of the characters will see the Bolian.

We never saw Bolians on TOS, but they were mentioned on Discovery.

It'll be cool if they can save some species to be discovered between TOS and TNG, but I don't remember anyone ever even hinting that the Bolians had only been discovered recently.

One restaurant, when I order garlic cheese naan, always give me regular naan, to the point I don't even bother ordering garlic cheese naan from them anymore, and just order reg naan since that's what I get anyway (the other place I get from has garlic naan, but not garlic cheese naan).

The rest of the food is so good though I can't just stop ordering from them because they give me the wrong naan.

I got the impression in the Uhura Hazing scene that he was familiar with Spock/Pike etc. but I just read on Memory Alpha that he arrived on the Enterprise shortly before Uhura?

Though not seen, the dialogue implies Louvier had been serving on the Enterprise for a while, at the very least, Louvier was said to be very familiar with Pike's distaste for the holographic communicators.

Yeah, and we only see him beam onboard at the end of episode 1, otherwise he's entirely absent, but certainly no-one has haze-fooled Hemmer into wearing a dress uniform...

Watching again, there's absolutely nothing to say Pike is familiar with him in the scene as they don't interact and Spock describes him as 'our new Chief Engineer'.

It seems clear that Hemmer and Spock have taken a liking to each other, which is natural given both of their personality types, plus the fact they are both 'outsiders' within the crew... but nothing to say he's been there a while. My bad.
