Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

agreed but even in TOS, they had several Time travel adventures.

Yea, but that was the first. Since then multiple movies and all the shows (except lower decks at this point) have had some kind of time travel. It's like time travel is so commonplace that every Starfleet crew will travel back in time (and always on Earth) multiple times. Disco/Prodigy are the two that haven't had the back on earth time travel plot but have had time travel.

After getting 9/10 of the way through S2 of Picard, I've had a realization of sorts:

I would pay real money for SNW to not touch ANY sort of time travel with a ten foot pole. Let's get back to being Star Trek rather than Time Trek.
So, not TOS?

Also, as much as I loathe time travel it isn't leaving Trek anytime soon (no pun intended)

The Discovery character Paul Stamets already has a Shuttle named after him less than a year after his 23rd century "death'? :ack::rofl:
Certainly seems like a possibility. Done after death. There would be a literally crap load of shuttles in the Federation it would be one small memorial for the recently awarded Starfleet officer after his unexpected death. I would expect many of them to get such honors, and at such a rather low level in rather quick turn. Now if it was a starship, or a school or university I would expect a much longer period not to mention if the process of determining if his contribution meet the criteria for much larger recognition. But a shuttle, seems very possible.

I agree. However, I was always curious that Copernicus and Galileo were only names on shuttlecraft and never made it to names of starships, given their stature.

There actually are at least two Federation starships named U.S.S. Copernicus in the franchise, one in Star Trek IV and the other in TNG Season 1. They're background or peripheral starships but they're shown.

So this may sound silly but I wouldn't mind them doing a mirror universe episode of this crew. Think Enterprise's "In a Mirror, Darkly", set completely in the mirror universe with no appearances by the Prime timeline crew. It can be just a one-off.

I'm still bummed that they never did one for TNG.
Fortunately there's the comic book "Mirror Broken" which is very nice. It's entirely set in the mirror universe with Picard and co.

Eh, I wish they’d leave the MU alone. It was good as a one off in TOS but it’s been diminishing returns since then.
DS9's foray was a major misstep.
