Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

IIRC, his death and the destruction of the Kelvin by Nero and the Narada is what caused the split in the timeline, so I would think he should be dead in both.

The timeline diverged when the Narada first appeared. And assuming nothing happened to the Kelvin in the prime timeline, it's entirely possible Robau Prime lived to a ripe old age.

More's the pity - I would love to have seen Faran Tahir reprise his role as the ultimate Starfleet badass.

I'm actually picturing him as the President of the Federation in SNW's time.

(for what it's worth, I asked Faran Tahir on Twitter if he would return as Robau and he said he'd love to do it.)

Robau showing up as either an admiral or a ranking member of the Federation government would be a lovely way to tie together the TV and film universes. I don't think Robau needs to be dead in the Prime reality; presumably he survived whatever mission the Kelvin was on that got interrupted by the Narada in the Kelvin Universe.

I see no reason to expect him to be dead.

The bottom line of Boba Fett's appeal is that he was a cool-ass action figure. Especially the 12" version.

Robau is the Boba Fett of the Star Trek universe. Went out like a punk after ten minutes of screen time, yet fans still scream to see him.
Call me biased (I probably am) but Robau actually felt like he had a personality vs. Fett who was just...armor. Also, Fett's first appearance was in the Holiday Special.

I see no reason to expect him to be played by the same actor, as much as I'd love to see it. They've recast everyone else in Disco.
That was probably more a matter of convenience, since they likely weren't able to get Zachary Quinto, Bruce Greenwood, Ben Cross or Wynona Ryder to Toronto on a regular or recurring basis. Faran Tahir has done recurring roles in Canada, so that might not be an issue for him.

Well, in Prime, Kirk was born on Earth, Iowa, and had both his parents, so my guess is the Kelvin made it back to Earth with no problems, and I would have no problem with a 20 year older version of Faran as an Admiral, or senator, or ambasador.

SNW panels is on, they're still saying Strange New Worlds will be more episodic
There will be background stuff, character arcs and such that will be serialized, but the main plots of each episode will be self contained.

That's what they have been saying for a while. They certainly talk a good game when it comes to Trek and I'm cautiously optimistic. I was hoping for more concrete news. But hey we might get a crossover with Lower Decks, that will be fun.

Bit of a worry that there is no international distributor (per the panel), especially as this would be one of the shows which Netflix had first option on. I hope they sort out something before the premiere.
