Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

It's supposed to be available within the next week or so.

In line with the final episode according to the series composer.
Ugh, this is when I start refreshing my phone for Star Trek music like some people desperately refresh their phones for replies on dating sites.

Up through episode eight. Really enjoyed “The Serene Squall” and “The Elysian Kingdom”. Still can’t see these people evolving into their TOS counterparts, which is a good thing.

And I see this M’Benga as the father of the one that serves later on the Enterprise.

So Mirror Pike was killed via the tantalus field weapon right? But it doesn't leave a body. Maybe Pike captures Mirror Pike and has him take his place in time for the accident.

I don't think we know for sure how Mirror Pike was killed. All the computer says in "Mirror, Mirror" is that Kirk rose to command after the assassination of Pike. Someone on here at one point mentioned it would be a really evil and haunting scene if, in the Mirror Universe, Kirk was the one behind the baffle plate rupture that cripples Pike.

Since the Tantalus Field is something only Kirk and Marlene seem to know about, it's unlikely that Pike was a victim of it. A more public form of assassination clearly tied to Kirk would be more likely.

Exactly, Mirror Kirk would need everybody to know that he was the one who killed (maimed?) Pike.
Using the Tantalus Field on Pike wouldn't achieve his goal of becoming the Captain of the Enterprise by the 'usual' Mirror Universe manner.
It would just leave doubt as to who actually did it, and Kirk can't have anybody doubting his goal of absolute power.
Plus it would most likely just give away Kirk's 'Ace-in-the-Hole' for achieving greater glory and power later on.

We don't know WHAT Mirror Kirk did to Mirror Pike but the official computer record of that Enterprise's command lineage said Mirror Pike was assassinated, so I sincerely doubt he'll be alive by the time Kirk consolidates his power aboard the ship.

I was rewatching the "Elysian Kingdom" episode and in the scene where the Nebula entity takes over Hemmer's body his antennae moves several times like the ENT Andorians. Is this the only time this happens or I haven't paying enough attention. I did miss even this the first time I watched this episode.

As I live in the UK, I have finally seen the first couple of episodes. First of the new Star Trek shows that I quite like. It's like the producers finally made a live action Star Trek show that actually wants to be a Star Trek show. There's a load of continuity gaffes, but such is the problem with prequels. I just tell myself it's an alternate timeline and enjoy it for what it is ;)

Yeah, this is the best modern live action Trek. Took me a couple episodes, and I still have some small gripes with filming techniques and dialogue volume, but the overall balance between episodic and serialization is excellent, and refreshing given how it's been mostly ignored by the other shows.
