It's okay.

There are things I'd still change about Pike's Enterprise because they're boring and silly, IMO. But lack of "faithfulness" to the original is not the problem. On a few points, too derivative a treatment is.

First of all, I’m glad Robert April is finally getting his live action debut. Next to pike he’s the other captain we know little bit about. I always pictured him being portrayed by somebody like Richard Dean Anderson or Mark Harmon. Also it’s ironic that Adrian Holmes who is portraying April previously portrayed a Captain Pike on Arrow and is now on another show with another captain pike.

First of all, I’m glad Robert April is finally getting his live action debut. Next to pike he’s the other captain we know little bit about. I always pictured him being portrayed by somebody like Richard Dean Anderson or Mark Harmon. Also it’s ironic that Adrian Holmes who is portraying April previously portrayed a Captain Pike on Arrow and is now on another show with another captain pike.

Richard Dean Anderson's been having health issues that caused him to be a bit chubbier now, which is fine but not sure if that'd be who they'd cast for someone still in active Starfleet, although we did have Scotty in the films. Mark Harmon's literally a walking live action version of TAS April, that's a good choice, but it seems Adrian Holmes is our April now.
