Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

Pike said the uniforms were new.

Later, there is a Short Trek showing that the uniforms were not new.

New canon takes precedence over old canon. Therefore, Pike's statement should be ignored.

Anson Mount in the SNW Enterprise transporter room set.

My God, that thing is HUGE. How many people do you think can stand there together at maximum?

It's gotta be WAY more than 7. Having only 7 Transport Pads is kinda wasteful, but also understandable to a degree.

Especially given Computer History where Computers were HUGE back in the day and got smaller as time progressed.

So to see SNW's Transporter go from that size to what we see in TOS, it does make sense.

But a Transporter Pad of that size should be able to handle ALOT more people in the future in my 26th century Head Canon.

So long as it sounds as it should I am good.

That's normal size.

Actually, it makes no sense whatsoever, because the differences are more than just making the transporter room smaller.
They also made several other improvements by the time of TOS, like putting carpet down so that transporter operators weren't blinded by the reflections.

Yes, the requisite equipment underneath the Transporter Pad needs to also get smaller.

Same with the entire Technology stack that operates the Transporter Room.

The fact is:

The original TOS sets of the 1960s were designed to look good in a 4 by 3 TV screen ratio.

The new sets are larger because they are designed to look good on a 16 by 9 HD TV screen, and are in fact designed for a modern Cinema theater screen ratio.

So, yeah of course they're going to look larger with more interior space.

I like the uniforms a lot. Interesting how the female versions have the black side pieces and the male versions don’t, even though they do have the separate bits there. And they replicated the branch insignia patterns in the fabric, straight out of the Kelvinverse unis. Nicely done!
