Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

It's a 5-year mission. If the show is a runaway success, they'll just ditch the 1 season = 1 year formula, and squeeze 12 years worth of episodes into those five years.

Hell, ENT covered a 10-year period in just four even if they didn't flash forward to 2161 until the series finale.

Also Lower Decks seems to be covering half a year per season (as it's following the logic that it only has half as many episodes each season compared to TNG).

Actually the uniforms we see the Enterprise crew wearing in season 2 weren't new, regardless of what they said. After all, they were being worn in the Q&A Short Trek, which was a year or so prior to The Cage.
What is more likely:
- Pike doesn't know that his own uniforms aren't new in the main show
- Pike is lying about old uniforms being new
- They used existing main show costumes in the filler show

I guess 'new' is relative. The Brightest Star showed that the Discovery-style uniforms were being worn before Saru joined Starfleet, back in 2239, while Q&A apparently takes place in 2254. Brother takes place in 2257, so 3 year old uniforms would be very new compared to 18 year old uniforms.

I'm sort of shocked the United Earth Starfleet kept the same basic design for about 20. We see it in canon the first time in 2143 and the last time in 2161.
