I'm saving my Ten's for now, just in case I want to come back and adjust my thoughts after the season is done.

    La'an's kind of a jerk.

Did I miss something? How did Uhura know the song suddenly to lower the force field?

How does Pike now know the names of the cadets he saves? That wasn't in Discovery. Una now knows everything? Where is she in Menagerie? This doesn't bode well for her...

Sam Kirk's Guy Fleegman Factor continues to rise. I enjoyed what little he did this week. The mustache comment was goofy as Hell but funny.

I half-expected to see a runabout zoom past the comet.

Hoshi Sato screamed yet Uhura sang on her first away mission. And both made good at the end of the day.

Dinner with the Captain sure isn't what it used to be! Wow!

I think she is going to try to stop Pike from sacrificing himself so she may follow him whereever he goes.

Meanwhile Picard can't even bothered to play cards with his crew.

well that's a century later and Picard was always an old fuddy duddy until his time with the Enterprise crew mellowed him out.

Shouldn’t they debate whether they should intervene with the comet? This is a Prime Direction situation.
Picard would have let them die. :)

It was outright stated in the Cage that Number One wanted Pike (yes in that way). That's of course been handwaved and swept under the rug so far but I actually wouldn't mind the show exploring that, it's certainly better than retreading Spock/Chapel. The only thing is, we know Pike will ultimately end up with Vina...

Bonus points for using "cabin" and "landing party" in this episode. "Quarters" and "away team" have dominated about 90% or more of the terminology since 1987 and while landing party was used interchangeably with away team in this episode it was refreshing to hear the old TOS terms used once again.

I really enjoyed this episode - it was heartfelt, thoughtful, a little silly, and lots of fun. My favorite flavor of Trek. :) Of the modern Trek era, Prodigy and LDS usually hit that sweet spot for me, DISCO on occasion, PIC not really. Very much hoping to see more of this.

The positive spirit of Classic Trek is shining through in these past two episodes. Combine that with the episodic nature of the new series and it's just a really nice way to spend about an hour.

Was that Majel’s voice as the computer? Are they finally using the phonetic recordings she did just before she died.

They might not even need that specifically now. Over at Star Wars they have digital AI recreating actors' voices

I would never normally support this but Pike and Number One's attraction is the one area I'd be okay shipping it because it does have that kind of interesting energy. Two people who are perfectly suited for one another and attracted to one another but who can't pursue a relationship because of their situation.

And now it has Pike's death prophecy hanging over them.

FYI - One element I like is that Pike would really benefit from some Klingon philosophy. It makes perfect sense that a Klingon would see their own inescapable death and take STRENGTH from that. Pike knows he dies a "good death" but he's not Klingon and all he can see is decades lost.

That with the digital AI combined could make it sound more natural.
Then again, it doesn’t need to bring a computer voice
