I don't give it a 10, but it's tons of fun and the kind of stuff Gene would have done in a heartbeat had TOS been given a big enough budget and the production time. Too much streaming Trek since 2017 has forgotten how to have fun, and this delivered.

I'm guessing you don't realize that flying into a supernova would result in only a fraction of it's energy actually hitting the Enterprise.

And the warp core is enough to blow up a planet?

What the show evoked, that Trek rarely has for many decades, was a sense of wonder.

If a show full of spaceships and aliens and ray-guns doesn't do that, and doesn't work on some level for young kids, all that "optimistic vision/morality play" stuff isn't worth a spit.

Tron is the one of the people on this board whose opinion of Star Trek means absolutely nothing to me. He's proven over and over and over again that he hasn't a clue about what Star Trek should be, only what he wants it to be. Practically every time he makes a complaint, it tends to be factually wrong and easily proven so.

The short answer to this is unless their parents are paying for Paramount, then no. The Berman/Braga era of Trek came when kids didn't really need their parents' permission to watch Trek because it was on free broadcast tv.

There's been a lot of complaints that new Trek isn't attracting kids when the very model of how Trek is shown precludes kids who don't have money for subscriptions even being able to watch Trek. They are entirely at the whim of their parents who may or may not have a Paramount subscription.

Star Trek was literally born through free syndicated reruns of TOS. It's hard to recapture that fandom in a way when the entire business model of Star Trek is different now.

Its just an opinion. None are better. You all have 15 episodes to enjoy. I will watch but I doubt ill like them. But ill watch. As usual we'll all debate them.

This is the most consistent way that is presented with Trek that doesn't meet the standard. It's not just a TV show but someone is a legacy that must be defended.

Tell your childhood to fuck off if you're not enjoying it. That's what I did with Voyager, despite eventually catching up with it. I would have stopped at Enterprise season 2 because I wasn't enjoying it if they hadn't switched up the format enough to grab my attention.

I wouldn't do anything for fifteen hours that I didn't enjoy unless for some peculiar reason I had no choice (no idea what that would be).
