Right, it's bizarre of the other poster to say I need to cite sources of Hitler references in modern times. It's a daily thing online, and when Trump was in office, half my FB feed every single day had Hitler references galore - referring to Trump's policies on the border, or detention centers, or white supremacy, or "China Flu," or any number of things. (I made plenty of those kinds of historical comparisons myself.) And these were from people of various backgrounds, not just history buffs. "Hitler" is very much still in the daily lexicon of modern discourse within all levels of society.

The problem was that the criticism of Trump centered more on his personality, as well as the fact that an interloper like Trump managed to knock off the Clinton Political Machine. After that, it was the job of the MSM to bait Trump into making enough mistakes that could be used against his re-election bid, using his own personality against him.

Well they did not even figure out how to fix her human body properly, so they are not as clever as they want others to believe.
(powerful telepaths, terrible doctors)

I mean, even if they're lousy doctors, you would think a Talosian would read her mind and go, "Wait. Sorry guys, this one's Illyrian, not Human. She can't breed with the dude."

It's interesting that if she did survive, they were unable to get any info from her unconscious mind, or any info a humans from the wreckage of the ship - even to the extent of a picture of a human to give them a basic idea of what a healthy human looked like.

But yeah, they may not be as powerful or as advanced as they would like alien visitors to believe.

I still find myself thinking the best way to reconcile this is to assume that the Illyrians are Humans who left soon after First Contact and that the cranial ridges we saw in ENT are an example of the modifying themselves.

The problem was that the criticism of Trump centered more on his personality,

Nope. It centered on his promotion of white nationalism, his bigoted immigration policies, his promotion of violence, his acts of sexual assault, his undermining of the international order, the bellicose foreign policy, his attacks on the free press, his utter incompetence at handling COVID-19, his attempts to undermine the democratic process, and his attempt to violently overthrow the United States Congress and install himself as unelected president-for-life.

I wonder if we'll ever get specifics about La'an's relationship to Khan? multi-great grand niece or daughter? How did they get rid of the megalomania in ensuing generations?

One of the reviews of the first 5 episodes mentioned the connection
granddaughter

I mean she pretty clearly identified him as an ancestor, so I would assume that means she's a multi-great-granddaughter.

I mean, you're talking about 263 years between Khan's exile and La'an in 2259. Assuming La'an is roughly in her mid-30s, that would mean she was born circa 2225 -- approximately 230 years after the Botany Bay launched. That's roughly nine generations. So we're talking about Khan being, at minimum, La'an's great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather. That makes him one of 256 great-great-great-great-great-great grandparents she has and one of 510 total ancestors.

And also, y'know, it's extremely problematic to frame mental illnesses as being some sort of genetic destiny just because your parents had one.

So, bottom line: Despite still carrying his name, Khan's genetic influence on La'an is unlikely to be determinative.

evidently she can.
I mean, we’ve seen a Cardassian giving birth to a (presumably) healthy baby with a Kazon, a species living literally at the other side of the galaxy, without intending to (and thus with no special medical attention!), I can believe two species in the same area of space can mix their genes.

So how we doin' under "Corky's" leadership? Let's Go Brandon.

Thanks for asking, Sparky. Infinitely better than we were under a white supremacist cult leader who, without checking notes, thought there were airplanes in the Revolutionary War, thought you could change a hurricane's course with a sharpie, looked directly into a solar eclipse, bragged about grabbing pussies and mocked folks with disabilities, told constituents to drink bleach, betrayed and abandoned longtime allies and, oh yeah, tried to overthrow the government. If I could check my notes I'd be writing this post all day. Frankly, the opinion of anybody who would support such a man isn't worth the anus it came out of.

This is utter bullshit and has no place in this or any other Trek show forum. Save it for the Neutral Zone.
