58 years from pilot to series, and the wait was worth it. Strange New Worlds is doing well with the audience and even better with critics. It's old and familiar with a lot that's fresh and new. A new look, a fresh new take on familiar characters and a popular lead. And what about Captain Pike anyway? He's a man who knows that he'll end up without the use of his body and in a chair. And it's all being done with a good dose of sci fi. Trek has always been socially relevant and this is another big issue that we'll get to see play out, so this show goes out to all those in a similar situation.

For now though, we'll be moving on to another character that's taken on a mysterious quality. The infamous Number One. Who is she? She now has a name, but what's the deal with her? If sightings are to be believed, she's been on 20th-century earth with Gary Seven and she's Robin Lefler's mother. Or maybe that's all hearsay and we'll get something closer to the truth with this episode.

    Light it up!

"The U.S.S. Enterprise encounters a contagion that ravages the ship. One by one, the entire crew is incapacitated except for Number One, Una Chin-Riley, who must now confront a secret she’s been hiding as she races to find a cure." - TrekMovie.com

Number One has been possessed by the Devil. Nice poster though, as always.

I'm still predicting a "transporter shenanigans" episode, even if the description indicates something else. Closer to LaForge & Ro in The Next Phase or Barclay in Realm Of Fear?

Tune in Thursday to find out!

The poster is what Rebecca as Mystique should have looked like in the X-Men movies, not the overpainted mess we actually got.

Number One's secret is that she's the result of fusing Capt. Robau's DNA with Brian Brophy's.

The last time writers tried to force a dark, hidden secret onto a Trek character, we got genetically engineered Bashir. Maybe a Starfleet officer is just a Starfleet officer.

I see a lot of new redshirts in that landing party. Fun times are here again. I wonder if we'll lose 1 or 2 this time out. Lol

Genetic modification is banned? You literally did it in the first episode. :)
I like their away team jackets. That’s the sort of thing I would like to own. Enterprise had one similar I liked as well.

Only a level 5 dialogistic? That’s the weakest of them. A level one is the most deep one.

So we've all been joking about why Dr. M'Benga gets demoted from CMO before TOS but I have to admit I did not expect we'd be getting the reason (let's be honest, this is probably it) so soon!

Pike's defiance of Starfleet to protect genetically engineered Number One doesn't seem so courageous once you remember he knows the time crystal says he'll still be in Starfleet roughly a decade from now. Even Number One should realize this (and probably did going by her log entry).

Weird that La’an kept the name. It would be like keeping the name Hitler.
