I still think the idea that a big reset is coming that would take away things that only bug critics of the show, is very much wishful thinking. People had the same predictions last year about the season ending with everything looking like a carbon copy of TOS, because visual updates are scary or something. I think there's a huge chasm between the producers saying "it will fit" and the desires of some fans for it all to go away. I'm not getting the sense this is the kind of fan service they care about. What's more likely is a ton of exposition and plot explaining and dealing with things that have gone on in series, with some broad brush appeals to continuity. I don't have a clue how this will end, but I do think it's going to result in huge cliffhanger where we see *somebody* marooned in the future. I also suspect it's going to leave people unsatisfied in a fashion similar to last season. In that it will tie up some loose ends, but probably a less-than-graceful fashion. Guaranteed: attempts to make canonistas happy results in unhappy canonistas every time. I hope I'm wrong, and I suspect I will enjoy it nonetheless. I know I will be surprised.
