I still think the idea that a big reset is coming that would take away things that only bug critics of the show, is very much wishful thinking. People had the same predictions last year about the season ending with everything looking like a carbon copy of TOS, because visual updates are scary or something. I think there's a huge chasm between the producers saying "it will fit" and the desires of some fans for it all to go away. I'm not getting the sense this is the kind of fan service they care about.

What's more likely is a ton of exposition and plot explaining and dealing with things that have gone on in series, with some broad brush appeals to continuity.

I don't have a clue how this will end, but I do think it's going to result in huge cliffhanger where we see *somebody* marooned in the future. I also suspect it's going to leave people unsatisfied in a fashion similar to last season. In that it will tie up some loose ends, but probably a less-than-graceful fashion. Guaranteed: attempts to make canonistas happy results in unhappy canonistas every time.

I hope I'm wrong, and I suspect I will enjoy it nonetheless. I know I will be surprised.

We're all kiddies at heart. Who are we kidding. We're watching a space ship science fiction show about ships that go pew pew pew. (I know I know there is more to it than that)

Yeah, maybe not, but I'm still probably going to keep my subscription for now just so I have access to all the CBS shows on it.

Again, though, 40-50 hours of Marvel/Star Wars over 2 years isn't going to take more of my money than double that from CBSAA or DC UNIVERSE or vastly more from Netflix or Amazon. Hell, that's only a little more time on new product than I'd be getting from Shudder or Youtube or Hulu. Like most streaming sites, its a month a year of my cash worth of new stuff to watch at best and no more.

I honestly find it laughable that CBS is raked over the coals and Disney gets screams of "take my money!" over doing the exact same thing. Isn't all TV supposed to be free? Some real disconnect there, IMHO.

I agree that there is no need to explain why he never mentions her in TOS, which is why there is no need for a reset that will save her parents.

...Or the need for a reset to explain the spore drive (there could be other non-reset reasons there is no spore drive in TOS)/
...Or a reset to explain to explain why the Klingon War seen in DSC was never specifically mentioned in TOS (it could be that they simply never had a good reason to mention it).

Exactly. It makes no sense why it would be something they would be working towards, and it just doesn't fit with past practice of this (or any) Trek producers. I think they just haven't anticipated how some critics are taking their saying "we'll make it fit" and run with it to ludicrous extremes.

Actually it looks like DC Universe may be in trouble. Swamp thing got episodes reduced mainly because warner is developing a warner streaming service and it's unclear how DCU may fit in.

My opinion would be roll DCU into Warner Streaming and on the CBS side roll CBSAA into Showtime streaming.

Catering has been included in the DSC end credits, as I vaguely recall.

This "trouble" at DC Universe seems to entirely be sourced from a now deleted Virginai Madsen instagram post that everyone is jumping on, so should be taken with a grain of salt.

That is good to hear. Though I can see where one production company like warner running two different streaming services could be an issue. You can only spread customers money so far.

Honestly I can see some consolidation in the future, but what that is, who knows, and whether combined streaming services will make more money than individual services is also up for debate? Some small services appear to be doing fine, while a giant like Hulu loses more than a billion dollars every year and its losses actually tripled between 2016-2018 from .5 to 1.5 billion a year. Success really depends on how successful one is in their market niche, IMO.
