disingenuous tone policing trolling

Look, managing tone is kind of just a fact of getting along with people, isn't it? When someone sounds angry and disparaging, that's never as much fun to engage with as someone who sounds thoughtful. That's not exactly a new standard or idea, and it isn't tone policing. That's conversation, discourse, whatever. That's what I do when I voice a critique of this show.

Talking about meth and snowflakes doesn't make people excited to engage, you know?

If only we could Make Thread Debates Great Again. :shifty:

The good old days. Like the types of debates we had in the late-'90s and early-2000s. The VOY Forum and ENT Forum were both examples of thought-provoking Great Debate at their most civil. An example for the rest of the Internet to follow. The moderators were only there as a formality because those forums practically moderated themselves. It was so amazing...

... wait a minute. Let me take those rose-tinted glasses off. Sorry about that.

I remember nothing but the utmost civility in between the Deep Space 9 and Voyager forums, as well as the Enterprise forums later.

Lesson learned today, Discovery fanboys do not know what a joke or hyperbolic writing for effect is. (not a surprise since they think the writing on Discovery is in anyway acceptable)

On Tuskin, I only say this because he's the most absurd Discovery fanboy who does the same ad hominem and derailing shit every single time people try critique the show.

I'm guessing there are more to come given all the notifications about you in the BR, so...

ust wondering if I was the only who cried during this episode. Twice actually.
Who was that writer who said before season 1 started, that Saru's storyline in Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum made him cry?

That guy must have been wracked with shoulder shaking sobs during "Charon". Doug Jones and SM-G were stellar in their performances and have, I think, become DSC's Spock/Kirk in terms of their relationship.

I'm loving this season's emphasis on character. I think season 1 had character stuff, but this season, each episode has delved into characters while pursuing whatever the episode's main storyline was. Just outstanding so far.

Number 1 was very intriguing. Just like Pike, she seems to have a rebellious streak. Her lack of scenes in this episode, is probably a signal that she is going to be heavily involved later in the season.

Also, shout out to everyone who took Saru and Stammets to task in Point of Light for not asking "May" what she wanted before pulling her out of Tilly. It's a serialized show, guys, what some of you may see as a "plothole" could very well be resolved in the next episode. Also, be sure to check the "previously on..." section of the opening. During Ent's seasons 3 and 4, many "plothoes" were filled in right there.

I joined in the spring of 2001. I'm old school enough to remember when we didn't even have the option of avatars. And the Great Post Purge of 2002.

And at the rate my comment is going, the invention of the internal combustion engine.

Or I'm dealing with a bunch of disingenuous fanboys who consistently use tone policing ad homenims to completely ignore and derail discussions on the problems of this show which happens repeatedly.

Either they're the definition of snowflakes if they're legitimately offended by a "take a Valium" comment when I'm clearly referencing the pacing of the show or they're disingenuously engaging in faux outrage and tone policing to derail any discussion about the issues of the show. I suspect the latter considering it repeatedly happens here especially by Tuskin.

Lol, Tuskin has always engaged in the same disingenuous tone policing trolling against people who strongly critique the show, I've seen it happen over and over and over and over again.

As far as I'm concerned, anyone who wasn't here when Bill Clinton was President is still a n00b!

If you were here at least before 9/11, you're on Conditional Status. ;)
You know what's amazing? I remember when the JJTrek was first announced and a lot of new people signed up thinking that - even then - I felt like an old timer.

Yeah. Well. I just did the math.
