The Federation Peace treaty went into effect before DS9 started, but I got the impression (again with the Maquis storyline that started in SDS9) that Bajor was one of the previously held Cardassian systems that reverted to being in 'Federation Territory' AS a result of the Treaty.

Again, Bajor was never in Federation Territory at all. It was expected to become Federation Territory eventually, but that was never shown on screen. Sisko could apply Federation rules regarding the Maquis because Starfleet had been invited to administer the station by the Bajoran govt., not because the station was in any way Federation territory. And if the Bajoran govt. had objected to his treatment of the Maquis, Sisko would've had to either work out a deal with them about what he can and can't do in their territory or else withdraw the Federation presence from DS9. Because they owned the station all along.

Abandonment is a requirement of claiming property as salvage. Was the station abandoned, and then claimed? Or did they use eminent domain? Or basic commandeering?

The Bajorans may have forgotten to go through the required motions towards legally acquiring the station, which is why Dukat said that it was still Cardassian property half a decade later, and made a run at it.

The Magicians did a ##cking fantastic musical episode last year.

Now that's what I'm talking about!
Oh well. At least we have "Virtuoso"
and the opening scene of "Tinker Tenor Doctor Spy".

It would have been best if they had just ignored him really, he was only doing it to get a rise out of them knowing they wouldn't be able to resist.
But then he'd still be here writhing in his "Doomcockery".
While I would never purposely instigate anybody's downfall, I have no qualms about slightly assisting somebody leap off a BBS cliff, when it's pretty obvious from the get-go that's what they intensely desire.

Also, a well done musical episode would be interesting.
:techman:

I do have a soft spot for musicals. Trek has more than enough gobbledygook in the canon to explain it away too. It'll never happen though, it takes itself way too seriously.

Exactly. A holographic malfunction? A mind-meld gone wrong? Aliens who communicate only in song, like "Darmok" but with catchier tunes?

Bring on the musical episode!

STAR TREK is allowed to let its hair down occasionally. See "A Piece of the Action," "Little Green Men," "Bride of Chaotica," etc.

Those helpful Void aliens from Voyager that could only communicate in chip-tunes on padds need to come back.
