Man this episode is so good, because it completely fails, but does it in the perfect way to show what the problem with Discovery as a show is at it's core.

See this episode has many great ideas, especially the Universal Translator going haywire concept, that scene is actually fantastic and a great fucking premise for a Star Trek episode, the problem is the show is bogged down by so many different plots and themes we have to enter the fucking Greek alphabet to list them all.

This is the biggest problem with Discovery, too many producers and writers wanting to do all these different things pulling in different directions and having only 40-50 minutes to do it. This episode was just all over the fucking place but with several interesting ideas that sadly, don't get explored or examined properly because the pacing is just way too fucking fast and nothing can breath on it's own.

Seriously this show needs to straight up send 90% of it's producers and writers to the unemployment line and put the rest on Valium. This could have been a fantastic episode of Star Trek but because too many hands in the pie and the meth level pacing, it just turned out absolutely meh. 4-5/10

Oh give me a break, you literally take offence over any criticism of Discovery then do this lame ad homenim moral high ground nonsense every single goddamn time to try discredit people who criticise it. Seriously if you're not working for CBS you should seriously be asking them for a cheque for the work you're doing.

Everyone who likes Star Trek Discovery must work for CBS.

Lesson learned today, Discovery fanboys do not know what a joke or hyperbolic writing for effect is. (not a surprise since they think the writing on Discovery is in anyway acceptable)

On Tuskin, I only say this because he's the most absurd Discovery fanboy who does the same ad hominem and derailing shit every single time people try critique the show.

I thought your particular bit of hyperbole was distasteful.

It's a show. It's not going to be to everyone's tastes. That's life. Your taste is just that, yours. You're not the supreme arbiter of what's good.

Boo hoo.

And? I'm criticising the show for perfectly legitimate reasons and specifically pointing out it's issues. One of Disco's biggest issues is that it clearly has too many hands in the pie and just has a fucking ABSURD amount of producers and writers for a TV show and this is resulting in the show being pulled in too many directions and not allowing plots to breath as pointed out by people since the first few episodes of S1. What is the solution? getting rid of a lot of those people and allowing someone to take charge with a more cohesive vision. Boo hoo for the people getting booted, but it needs to happen.

I think Tuskin is a knowledgeable fan of the show and I like reading their posts. Tuskin keeps the conversation going and I haven't seen them attack anyone, personally. It's just a show, even if its a damned good one. Lower your cordrazine dosage.

Boo hoo.

You could have just said move them to other projects, not get fired, and be medicated.

Waaaaah waaaaaah oh no someone made an extremely tame joke about the ridiculous pacing of the show. waaaaah. Jesus how do you survive in every day conversation?

*shrug*

Nah, dude. Plenty of us post criticisms of the show. You, OTOH, think your opinions are so important that writers should be medicated for not conforming to your tastes. Calm down.

You mean, I made an extremely common tame joke about slowing down and focusing more "Take a chill pill and focus", "take a valium and relax". Either you guys are the biggest snowflakes I've ever come across in my life, or you're being disingenuously faux outragey... I suspect the latter.

When you have to keep telling folks over and over again that you made a joke...

It really wasn't one to begin with.

You Opinion was noted.

Also, it's not wise to come in all gangbusters and completely insulting to other posters around here.

We may not agree with you, but we do try to maintain some semblance of civility in our discussions.

(and you are probably already well aware that the Mods don't take kindly to that kind of repertoire)
