Tilly's dead friend was pretty Lynchian, which I liked a lot. But Tilly as the youngest ever in the command whatsit? That seems like quite a stretch.

True. If the Academy is like college, then Command Training must be like grad school or getting a post-baccalaureate.

Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

Youngest until Kirk I bet. :)

Tilly is younger than Kirk, by about three years. So there's no way for him to become the youngest CTP member.

Pike has pretty much decided Burnham is his First Officer right?

I think he's just used to working with Spock, and she's the next best thing (Nhan must've transferred off the ship).

Must be just pass Gorn space I bet

Galaxy is huge. They're far, far, far away from the Gorn or anyone else we know. Probably closer to the Hirogen than the Gorn.

I would say a 9, but I'm giving an extra point for "Fortunately, I was raised on Vulcan. We don't do funny."

I was hoping for a retort, something along the lines of "I know that's not true" or "Not in my experience", referencing Spock and his oft-sarcastic jabs on TOS.

The Jacob character was really quite well portrayed. Not sure who the actor was, but he did a great job, and had tremendous chemistry with Mount.

Agree. He raised the bar for the episode as a whole. I'll be curious to see if they Piece of the Action that character -- and, if so, what he'll be like after finding out the truth and getting that Federation tech.

Possibly the people who jumped onboard for Season 2 because of Pike and Spock and hadn't binged Season 1.

Between the quick-but-efficient recap of S1 at the beginning of "Brother", the roll call for the crew in the same episode, and the explanation of the Spore Drive here, you really could get by watching this season without watching last.
There were a few more things like that as well. The talk of World War 3 would be included in that. Someone new to Trek likely wouldn't know that took place in Star Trek's history and was a key point for this story.

If they were from Earth, the Prime Directive doesn’t count. They should be allowed to tell them everything.

I liked it as it was Captain's discretion. The people there did create their own society over the 200 years since they were taken there.

- Plus, could they fit everyone on the planet on the ship (and if not would Starfleet authorize and Stamets be willing to endure the number of Jumps it would take?)

- Would everyone want to leave? You also have the situation that if enough DO want to leave; would the ones who remain have enough manpower and diversity to continue living and procreating there.

Pike thought abut the above and figured it was best to leave these people as they were. That said, I do LOVE that he in the end had a reason to reveal the truth to the one person who needed to hear it.
