This episode we learned that Starfleet has transporters which can reach across multiple lightyears.

Possibly, but not certainly.

I thought he meant sensor range and not transporter range. You have to be pretty close for transporters.

But A) we don’t know how close they were and B) we don’t know the effective range of the transporter of DSC.

What we do know is they were close enough to do it and remain undetected. And that’s all we need to know for the story to work.

Not to mention the emperor could tell Burnham was being tardy with her bombing across the quadrant, and showed up to finish the job.

A romantic encounter with Mirror Amanda Grayson around 2230? At that point Mirror Sarek could have had much easier and closer contact with Terrans and the two developed feelings for one another, but since she's human and he's Vulcan the nature of their offspring had to be concealed and both went their separate ways after Spock was conceived?

See my post above. I think the inference is that Burnham summoned the Discovery as a means of saving Tyler and getting the data off the Senzhou. Saru knew about Tyler's situation when he beamed Tyler aboard, which means Burnham had briefed them.

Makes sense.

They could just use the same model used in ENT for the Prime ones. They’ll probably just light it like the other ships.
They will probably have to make it larger because, as expected, STD has already screwed those up. :)

How the heck did they turn Voq into Tyler? Did they transfer his consciousness into a human body? Combine the two bodies somehow? Is Tyler still there as well as Voq?

10/10 Tillys.
Would Tilly again.

This was so awesome. A 10 from me.

I loved them staying true to Trek's values with the quick rescue of Tyler.

And as others noted, while die-hard fans predicted many things, the execution of them was intense and engaging.

I loved Mirror Sarek. About the only thing I'm a little worried about is the shroom magic. I hope they don't make it to far out, but hey, much weirder stuff has happened in past Trek. ;)

And Lorca is still badass. Normally, someone getting tortured would want to get the heck out as fast as possible. Of course, his internal plan might be wanting to get to the Emperor.
I've been reading "Mycelium Running," by Dr. Paul Stamets. Believe it or not, he does indeed touch on how all of this would work, and most definitely how it ties in to life and death. It's a fantastic text. I highly recommend it.

All it takes is one loyal officer of the Empire to get a message to the Emperor. It could have been Detmer, because I doubt she took that dressing down on the bridge with passivity.

It's still a bit unclear to me, but if I had to guess, they took Tyler's body, sans skeleton, and grafted it onto Voq. Then they brainwashed him to believe he was Tyler in order to complete the whole package. It's uh, kind of grisly when you think about it, but effective.

7 for me.

Not only was the transporter save weak, how did they even know to be there to save him? And remain undetected, by BOTH ships?

Still, fairly enjoyable.

Of course, I just watched an ENT episode where the crew learns exposure to Orion females drives the males crazy & leaves them open to suggestion. And then sets males to guard them. Golly that was smart.

Detmer is a total snake. I keep waiting for her to attempt a coup on Burnham.

love that scene of Saru and Michael lying to each other. Saru didn't want her to be distracted by Drs death.

Why did Michael said she didn't see a Kelpian in MU? she didn't want to hurt his feelings that they were slaves, or that his mirror Saru is rubbing her in a bubble bath? That bath scene reminded me of Coming to America...lol!!!!

Given that they just got over the whole rivaly thing, the "you betrayed our captain and got her killed" thing, the "you started a war" thing, the "you took away the one thing in the universe that made me happy" thing, she thought it best to wait until a less stressful time to drop the "I had mirror-you feed and bathe me" thing.

Amanda kept Sarek as a Vulcan Love Slave
Worse, Amanda raped Sarek while he was captive. She hoped to breed a human with Vulcan strength to help her rise to power. Disgusted when she saw the child looked more Vulcan than human, she gave it to Sarek and let him escape, stating she'd kill them both if she ever saw them again.

That's rather dark!

There was no human body involved, from what I can gather. They did it via surgery (using crude 19th century tools, without anesthesia - yet it still passed Starfleet scans) and then implanted a fake Ash Tyler persona on top of his mind.

Definitely. The fealty is a smokescreen.

There was a human body involved. At one point, we see the body of Ash Tyler on a bed, and nearby is Voq. The 35 minute mark really gets into it.

It’s only some of the Orion females that have that strong affect on males. Most can get Men the old fashioned way anyway. :)

One of the things I hated about this episode's B plot is that it was basically just Tilly and Saru talking to one another in empty rooms for the entire episode. I mean, it's okay, it didn't need to be high-octane action. But I felt like it was basically contrived in order to give them something to do (Tilly should not have been in charge of the procedure). Worse, it continues the "empty Discovery" theme, where since all the other main characters are unconscious or gone all Tilly and Saru can do is talk with each other. I mean, Mirror Detmer is getting more lines than Prime Detmer ever has.

OK. Lorca HAS to be MU. He wanted to go home and kill the Empress. If he succeeds, he'll send the regulars home. Has a soft spot for Burnham.

Wish they'd have kept Ash spaced. Never could abide him or the romance.
