Now I want to watch this movie again, to make sure I remembered the ending correctly. :)

You pretty much have to be fair!

There's a moment that leaves room for interpretation. Krall see's his reflection in a shard of glass, pauses then grabs it. It could be seen as him thinking as he see's it, then acting on the impulse to stab Kirk - but to me it looked more like seeing his real self for the first time and having a brief moment of contemplation.... only for that reminder of who he was anger him and resume the fight.

Krall's arc was fine as is n my view; not every bad guy can, or should be, redeemed. The down side was that they didn't hammer home the story of why he turned, but it would have been a bit much to throw in at that stage of the film, and having too much background early on would kill that eventual reveal. So I was fine with it not getting too much depth.

Celebrate 50 years of Trek with Star Trek Beyond. This is the place where you can grade the movie in the poll above and discuss every aspect of the film. This thread will contain spoilers, so beware.

So sad!
So young!

* more countless pointless, utterly stupid nods to past Treks to try to ironically appease fanboys despite fanboys loathing JJ's era since 2009 while not understanding why fanboys aren't liking it

I for one like and appreciate those

The movie is closest in feel to Prime universe Trek, where it needs to the most.

I completely agree. Best trek movie of the 13 IMO.

Is there any indication Lin wants to return to helm a 4th one? The third one didn't do well at the box office.
The film was okay, I thought the JJ ones were more exciting despite the 1st one was A New Hope beat for beat and the 2nd was just... cool looking to just look at. Beyond felt like same old hat to me but the one element which stand out was McCoy's role; it was nice to see Karl Urban flesh his character than aping DeForest Kelley in the first two films.

He probably would if asked. I really enjoy all three films, but I think it would be nice to see Lin have another go.

I'm not sure if Tarantino is interested in JJTrek but could be interested in rethinking the concept and go with something fresh and new but has a hint of Star Trek from the 1960's.

I thought he wanted to rework a TOS episode into a full movie "Tomorrow is yesterday" as he likes TOS.

I finally bought the movie recently, the longest I've waited to buy any of the Kelvinverse movies. I will do a rewatch soon and see if months away from it have changed my views.
