Rank the Trek series

I can't accurately rank all the current shows since they're still airing...but as of right now, here's mine. Fan since 1992, btw.

1. Deep Space 9
2. The Next Generation
3. Strange New Worlds (realllllllly hard to rank this one since we're only a handful of episodes in....but I'm loving it)
4. Lower Decks
5. Prodigy
6. The Original Series
7. Picard
8. Enterprise
9. Voyager
10. Discovery
11. The Animated Series

My updated list, with slight changes:

As usual I include TAS in TOS due to the same setting and mostly same characters. I don't include the "Short Treks" because I consider them more like bonus material to DSC/SNW/PIC. Comparable to webisodes.

Screw it. Everything except Picard. I thought PIC Season 1 was the single best season of Star Trek (fight me on it), but Season 2 was a misfire. I didn't think it was bad, it just didn't live up to S1 or even close. So, Season 3 really matters if I want to rank it. A strong first and third season can make up for a weaker second. But if both the second and third seasons are misfires, then... that basically knocks the series way down.

1-2. Disco & TOS (they alternate depending on which day you catch me on)
3. TNG
4. DS9
5. Prodigy (MUCH better than what I ever would've expected)
6. SNW (could go up, but I'm leaving it here for now)
7. VOY
8. Lower Decks
9. TAS (a larger voice-cast, music that's not so repetitive, better voice-acting, and better animation would've made this go up)

10. ENT (I swear this is the one Star Trek show that can't grab me)

Not ranked:
Picard, for the reason I said above.
Short Treks. I agree that it's really just bonus material for DSC, SNW, and PIC.

4. TNG: Honestly, TNG should be 3rd, but I did a rewatch very recently and I found so much of it (too much) to be a mundane slog. It’s just so static and formulaic. As flawed as the first two seasons are, in retrospect they feel more exciting and engaging than the later seasons. Still, the cast is brilliant, the visuals are still beautiful to this day, and the best of TNG still blows away the best of almost any other series.

How about watching the very best TNG has to offer, that's what I do.
And after that it's still in my Top2 series ever, season 1 of 24 being the other.

Yeah, but for a “ranking the best series” perspective, this approach doesn’t work. You have to take the good, with the bad…and not just the top 20%

I think if a series is really "the best", then it can withstand the bad without it taking a serious hit. It's not about "the best" or "the worst", it's about what does it average out to.

DSC has enough good will with me after four seasons that, if I end up thinking the fifth season is shit, it won't impact what I think of the series overall.

PIC, on the other hand, doesn't have that cushion with me. It's on probation after the second season. If the third season is bad, it'll tank the overall series IMO.

1. TNG: The show that made me a Trekkie.
2. DS9: Sometimes I think it is 1.
3. Prodigy : Best 1st season of a Trek show.
4. SNW: Could move up after season 2.
5. Lower Decks: Really grew on me and is a funny and smart show.
6. Picard: Picard is my favorite character. A little disappointing but still enjoy it.
7. Discovery: Like it better than most here.
8. Voyager: Love the characters but just couldn't get into it like other 24th century shows.
9. Enterprise: Slow start but the final season was phenomenal.
10. TOS: Before my time/to campy
11. TAS: Never seen it

I really liked Generations and loved First Contact. Insurrection and especially Nemesis are garbage.

The Kelvin movies are fun, infact 2009 is my favorite ST movie, but I don't take them seriously. They are good movies that Star Trek cool again. But I don't consider them canon or anything. I never really take any Trek movie seriously. For me the best Trek is on television

If Picard Season 3 ends up actually being good it might raise itself a level (but still be held down by a mixed Season 1 and a terrible Season 2). The rest of these are pretty much set, although its possible that SNW could take a downturn (I hope it doesn't, obviously, but its a possibility).
