New SGU Trailer *MAJOR SPOILERS*

My main question is who is it attacking the base and why ? It surely can't be the series' regular villains (if there are going to be any) as my understanding was that this ship isn't in our galaxy or anywhere close (otherwise Odyssey could go pick them up).
Well if you look closely you can see tel'taks, al'kesh, and death gliders so the chances are they are either the Lucian Alliance or Jaffa. Most likely the former.

Which makes me want to see what's going on in our part of the universe more than where this ship is.
Oh please. If I never have to sit through another Lucian Alliance snore-fest it'll be too soon.

More specifically, I want to see Odyssey, Daedalus, Apollo, Sun Tzu and the General Hammond show up in orbit around the homeworld of whoever did it.

I'm interested. It looks like they might be able to make this work. My biggest hope right now is that they take the concept more in the direction of BSG/ Atlantis season 1 than Voyager/ rest of Atlantis. I want them to really deal with the consequences of being cut off. I don't want them to miraculously regain contact within a season or two like Atlantis, and I don't want them wandering the galaxy as if everything was normal or OK like in Voyager. I want them to be cut off, in trouble, and I want the show to actually show it. The trailer gives me hope, but we'll have to see.

Okay, gotta ask...did they name the ship "General Hammond" (like the General Lee from Dukes of Hazzard) or is it just the "Hammond"?

Agreed, and if they do establish contact, I don't want it to go from nothing to two-way wormhole/ship contact in the space of a 40 minute episode, just in time to save them from the season finale bad guy. Why not establish an incredibly limited means of communication, maybe time delayed short text messages? So although they can't talk to or reach Earth, they can Tweet to them at some great expense (knowing Stargate, that expense will be power consumption.)

There's a bit of confusion on this. This is the dialogue from "Enemy at the Gate":

SHEPPARD: So, you're in command here, huh?

CARTER: Only until General Landry gets back. He's heading up a task force in Washington. My next position is to take command of our new Daedalus-class ship.

SHEPPARD: The Phoenix?

CARTER: Actually, we're renaming it the "General Hammond".

SHEPPARD: Oh, yeah. I heard about that. Sorry – it was kind of sudden.

CARTER: Heart attack. I was offworld at the time.

SHEPPARD: He was a good man.

CARTER: He really was.

However...

The ship seen in this trailer is apparently the USS George Hammond. It's most likely that Carter simply misspoke, since she wasn't used to calling him "George". George Hammond is in line with the tradition of naming ships after individuals - it's not the USS President Lincoln after all.

Someone isn't going to be happy.... The one spoiler I read has them communicating with Earth by episode 5-6.

They get those Ancient bodyswap communication stone things.

Not bad, I could live with that as a connection, as long as they can't just walk back and forth through the gate by episode 6, I'll be happy.

Something's been annoying me since I first saw the trailer. What does Lieutenant Scott say when the clip shows the Destiny on screen?

It sounds like: '"The Orion ship..." but we have no idea where we are in relation to Earth'

but obviously it can't be that.

EDIT: Ok figured it out "We are on a ship". Seems a bit of a stupid line.

Also, please can someone tell me that Wallace isn't going to be a Rodney clone. ie. obnoxious, annoying, rude, whiny, condescending and totally un-likeable (until he calmed down in season 3+)

I assumed the line made sense in relation to the story, but just generally it sounds a bit stupid. Whatever will wait and see.

Yeah... God I hope not! I noticed that too, he seems like he wondered into the wrong set or something.

Seeing as how the gated into a black room with no real idea where they were I think it's a logcial line. Somebody had to say it.
