Most hated characters in Star Trek

I didn't particularly like Kes. I am on my rewatch of DS9 so I'll come back later & for TNG: I'd say Yar because she wasn't used to her full potential. ENT: I need to rewatch so I can decide. VOY: I hate to say this, but I did not like Harry.
I do think they could have done a lot more with Yar in later seasons. A long term Yar-Data relationship might have been part of it maybe.

Ent: Supposedly there is a character named Mayweather but this has never been proven, to my knowledge.

I HATE Harry! It's not a race thing. (I'm Asian.) But what exactly did Harry Kim bring to Voyager? Besides being an insufferable snot? I am okay with Kes. And Yar. As long as you delete Harry and Travis.

Now. I know how this sounds. The one Asian guy and the afro-american. Still. I hate Harry Kim and Travis Mayweather. They did nothing to the story. (Although zero gravity was cool.)

I'm not Trump. I'm Trekkie.

NO those are just the ones the "fans" say killed Star Trek but we've heard that song before many times over many years
Maybe I've overlooked it, but I've never seen anyone claim J.J. Abrams killed Star Trek. They may not like his movies, but they did good box office and at least somewhat led to Trek coming back in streaming form. I don't think there's any way you could argue he killed the franchise. And I don't think, creatively, he gets the hate that Kurtzman does either.

Now, Kurtzman. That's a different story. Yes, there is tons of hate directed at him and plenty of accusations that he has killed Trek. But Abrams?

Every Trek series has to have at least one insufferable snot. In TOS, it was Spock. In TNG, it was Picard. Etc. Some insufferable snots just get liked by the fans more than others.

There are Trekkies and there are Trekkies.

JJ did a bad thing. Trying to turn Star Trek into Star Wars. Obviously Trekkies wouldn't go for it. Trek is scientific. Ask NASA. Wars is fantasy. Equally important.

Nah Kes was far more useless than Harry.

Harry role was the naive newbie.

Kes didn't add anything except something for nelix to perv over :barf:

I don't hate Kes, I liked her more than Harry at any rate. I didn't like what they did to her character in her last episode, I thought she left the show on a good note and they didn't need to bring her back as grumpy/evil Kes.

So while I don’t really hate any of the characters on Trek, here’s the ones I find least enjoyable …
  • Harry Mudd, because I find him unfunny and sleazy and not very entertaining.
  • Lwaxana, she definitely has her moments, but most of the time I thought she was annoying as hell.
  • Captain Liam Shaw; I guess I understand what the writers were going for with him, and I really like Todd Stashwick as a person, but the character didn’t click with me at all.
  • Emperor Giourgou, because she had a horrible disregard for the life of other beings and it often felt like they didn’t even attempt to redeem her as a character. Her humor, which I guess was supposed to be crass and cool seemed just cringe to me most of the time.
  • Pelia, because half the time I find the humor they are attempting with the character just cringeworthy.
  • Worf, who’s very annoying with his honor schtick and over-the-top machismo.
Additionally, as a kid first watching Trek I really didn’t like Quark, finding him just sleazy, weird and annoying. However, getting older I grew to like him, appreciating his more caricature-like aspects.

I'd second every one of these, took the words right out of my mouth. Or keyboard.

To list one character that I do actually hate, I'd say the Borg Queen. The actresses did a fine job, no shade on them, but I hated the very concept of a Borg Queen and felt it undermined the threat and intimidation of the Borg. Their whole point was they had no leaders, no weakpoints to target, no individuals to negotiate with or outsmart, just a hive mind army that wouldn't stop unless they were all taken out. But that made them too hard to write and deal with, so ... Borg Queen. Bleh. She just never compared to that chilling moment in BoBW when those collective voices declare "Self-determination is irrelevant. Death is irrelevant."

My wife says, “There’s a lid for every pot.” It’s true. The idea that Geordi never found a lid for his pot is ludicrous. It’s preposterous, and it’s insulting.

I mean I would bet money if I had any that "There's a lid for every pot." is not true, and would offer myself as proof of that. If I live to be a hundred I'll still be single. If anything I find characters that either remain single or only have failed relationships to be relatable and comforting. Yeah I'm a bitter envious person, what of it?

If nothing else, Kes gave The Doctor someone to play off of and helped him evolve more than anyone else, at least in the early days. I'd take her over Kim for that if for no other reason.

I suppose YMMV depending on how you feel about The Doctor in general. :p
