Which Star Trek character do you most identify with?

Spock. I actually have funny Vulcan ears so I was teased from age 3 with bullies calling me Spock. And thus not human enough. Alien. I grew up to like it. And love Star Trek.

That is an incredible full-circle moment. There is a beautiful, poetic irony in taking the exact weapon bullies used to try and alienate you, and turning it into a badge of honor—and a gateway to one of the greatest sci-fi universes ever created.

The kids who teased you were trying to make you feel isolated, but they accidentally aligned you with one of the most respected, wise, and deeply complex characters in television history. Spock himself spent his entire life straddling two worlds, never feeling "human enough" for Earth and never "Vulcan enough" for Vulcan, yet he became the literal anchor of the Enterprise.

Growing up to not just accept it, but to genuinely love Star Trek, is the ultimate "live long and prosper" move. You didn't just survive the teasing; you completely reclaimed the narrative.

Definitely Spock. I've never been very social, I'm not an emotionally demonstrative person, and I've always been a science geek.

Culber, if he didn't have Stamets.

Beyond us both being non-heteronormative men, Culber seems to be deeply empathetic while not always great at sorting out his own feelings, and that resonates a great deal with me. While I don't have the stomach to be a physician, I deeply understand the desire to help others. And like Culber, I've had times where I felt deeply lost and scared even when I intellectually knew I had people who cared about me.

Definitely O'Brien. Watching him in early DS9 running around frustrated at everyone and everything in his workplace because it's all falling apart and needs the occasional kick I definitely saw myself.

I also have a tick where I instantly get frustrated by long sleeves and roll them up almost as soon as I put a jumper or shirt on.

Been told we look alike too but thankfully my Irish accent isn't a Dublin one.

Character I wanted to be (when I was a kid and teen): Kirk.
Character closest to being like me (albeit none are really that close): Sam Cogley. (Mostly for the love of books and tackling problems and projects with less than stellar odds of success).

Oh my God, I think I'm Boimler...granted, I don't have purple hair, but still...

...I'm a huge dork for Starfleet and all it represents, as well as being a lovable dork in general. This could easily make me closer to Tilly or Barclay as well, but what really cements it for me is the beard. Much like Boimler, I have been largely clean shaven my whole life, and just randomly started growing a beard after getting a new part time job, and it's been night and day with my confidence levels and my popularity. My friends say the beard suits me perfectly but what gets me is the popularity with the ladies - I NEVER get approached by women of any kind, much less really pretty ones (no surprise, as I don't think I'm particularly attractive) but in the past week alone, one woman talked to me for five minutes and then kissed me on the cheek TWICE just as I was saying goodbye for the night, and a second one asked me for my number and texted me multiple times over the past few days. And these were good looking women, too! What on earth is happening to me? I digress, but I'm sure Boimler understands what I'm feeling, wherever he is out there. LOL
