I just found out that there is only one character (played by the same actor!) who appears in 5 different series

If you count EMH instances based on Zimmerman and Zimmerman together:

FC
DS9
VOY
LD (Cameo)
PRO
SFA

And its not my favourite one...

William T. Riker
TNG: 176 episodes
DS9: 1 episode (at least T. Riker...)
VOY: 1 episode
ENT: 1 episode
PIC: 11 episodes

And 4 of the movies (VII-X)

And consequently, the only other character who appeared in more than three series is:

Deanna Troi
TNG: 168
VOY: 3
ENT: 1
PIC: 7
And 4 of the movies (VII-X)

And she is not my favourite either

Michael Dorn as Worf has by far the most appearances though:

Worf
TNG: 176
DS9: 102
PIC:7
And 4 of the movies (VII-X).... and in VI he plays his ancestor "colonel Worf"

The only one getting bit close is, interestingly, O`Brian

Miles O`Brian
TNG: 52
DS9: 173

But none of the movies (why?). Unique about him is his developpement from a small side role to a main character, i think he got his full name only in the last episode of TNGs 4th series, so in many of this 52 episodes he appears only few seconds.

I wished they would have "connected" the diferent series a little bit more with other characters than O`Brian and Worf being important in several series, esp. amongst TNG, DS9 and VOY who played all more or less in the same time.

While i see the problem doing this with Voyager in the Delta Quadrant (There you need a Q to "magically" beam Riker aboard e.g.) i would have loved to see Picard and Data in some later DS9 episodes, somehow participating in the Dominion war with the Enterprise or otherwise. What do you think?

PS: I wrote "character played by the same actor" because it woud be too compicated including all the animated series "cameos" and different Spocks as child, young man, middle aged man and old man. If i still made an error please correct me, all the given numbers i researched myself.
Good points!
And excellent research too! :techman:

As for O'Brien, I guess that the reason why he don't appear in the TNG movies was because he was transferred to Deep Space Nine before the events in the Star Trek movie Generations which took place on Stardates 48632.4-48650.1 (Thursday, 19 Aug 2371-Thursday, 26 Aug 2371).

O'Brien was transferred to deep Space Nine at Stardate 46379.1 (Mon, 19 May 2369).

As for DS9, I agree about Picard and data and possible visits on DS9.

I would really have liked to see some TNG characters show up from time to time in DS9, especially during the Dominion War.

For me , it's still a mystery what the Enterprise crew was doing during the Dominion War.

Were they trapped behind enemy lines or did they do special missions during the war. At least they should have been involved in some of the more important events, like the invasion of Cardassia.

Some good author should actually write a book about it!

Its hard to tell on forums but I assume you are being tongue in cheek here

No, actually not!

I'm actually serious here.

I mean, we had this war, but what was the Starfleet flagship doing during that time?
That could be interesting to know.

And why not a book about it?

My best guess is that because the Sovereign class had a combination of extreme weapon power, survivability, speed, internal capacity, and quality accommodation, it was used for transport of essential cargo and personnel.

There were.

Longtime since I read them but recall them being a fun read.
I have a bunch of Star Trek books.

Most VOY books from seasons 1,2 and 3 but also some DS9 and related, among them the excellent Garak biography A Stitch In Time by actor Andrew j. Robinson.

That book and the VOY book The Black Shore by Greg Cox is my absolute favorite Star Trek books.

I hope that the books you recommended will give agood insight in what Picard and his crew were doing during the Dominion War.
