Kes, Possibly the Worst Lead Character of the Berman Era? Maybe Kim? Mayweather? Troi? Other?

That's true.

Both Lien and wang could act and their characters could have become much more that they were in the series.

Just look at some of the VOY novels in which both Kes and Kim have more action in the TV series.

Despite that, I find Kes great in the series .

Kim was a bit underdeveloped in the TV series but still likeable.

Have you watched Stargate Universe?

Honestly, I don't think that you would have liked to see something similar in VOY.


As interesting as if Picard would have been turned into an alcoholist, not capable of being captain on a starship or if Kirk would have been turned into some crazy paranoid maniac, killing Scotty for suspecting him of sabotaging the engines or have Riker become a drug addict and finally committing suicide because Troi dumped him for Devinoni Ral.

In other words, a totally uninteresting and disgusting scenario which we can be without.

That episode in season 6 of Voyager was utterly crap and downright insulting.

I will agree that "FURY" was a very bad episode, in multiple ways. And makes the cut as among the worst of VOY.

But I will still stand by my assertion that Kes is, overall, the worst character of the leads simply because she is the only one that suffered from ALL 3 of the problems I stated initially. With others, it was 1 or 2 similar issues, but not the trifecta.

And like I said, I don't really dislike her. But someone IS going to be on the bottom of the list, and given the parameters I listed, it just happens to be Kes.


As for SGU, it DID take a while for it to work for me, but season 2 really was great. The biggest problem there was lack of humor, particularly when you expect it from a STARGATE series due to SG-1 and ATLANTIS having humor baked into sone of the characters.

I wish they'd brought back Kes in PIC and had a scene where she gets her eyes ripped out by the Borg.

Then I wish there was a scene where she just slowly, slowly dies.

Okay…originally I was willing to let this slide because it’s about a fictional character, not a member of the board.

But after discussion and given the totality of circumstances, it’s become clear this is deliberate trolling.
