Kes, Possibly the Worst Lead Character of the Berman Era? Maybe Kim? Mayweather? Troi? Other?

While I liked Crusher, Diana Muldair was a better actress than McFadden. I wish she'd stayed.

I totally agree. As an added bonus, I was working for a major advertiser back in the day and was lucky to have lunch with both actresses (at different times, of course). Gates was less than charming. Diana was awesome, super charismatic. Not that I’m an expert, but it think that comes thru their acting abilities.

(Caveat: first time using “quotes” function. Hope I did it correctly)

A protracted quarrel between Starfleet and Maquis - in that situation - would have been ridiculous.
I agree.

In the situation they were, the Maquis realized that Voyager was the best chance for them to get home, wether they disliked Starfleet or not.

I've never liked "Warlord" as an episode, but it's easily Jennifer's tour de force in the series and her single best performance on the show. "Cold Fire" is a close second.

"Fury" didn't work for me when it was new and it works even less now. What an utter mess. Kes sacrificing herself to help her friends and knock the ship closer to home should have been the end for the character, going out on a high note and giving Kes positive bookends to her life. But nope, B&B had to drag her back into the show in a woefully misbegotten revenge story that came out of nowhere and sullied Kes as a sympathetic character.

Warlord was quite good and that episode also showed the willpower of Kes, how she did fight Tieran even when he was in control of her.

The s**t episode in season 6 was downright insulting to the character Kes and the fans of the character Kes. Worst episode ever in any TV series.

Fury Kes is best Kes. I wish she'd become a long standing arch enemy to Janeway, pursuing her across the quadrant. And killing Neelix for trying to groom her.
That episode was s**t and should be erasedfrom future VOY DVD:s.

I could definitely get behind this!
Am I surprised?
:barf2:

Sadly, everything potentially interesting from Voyager's premise was lost. Conflict with the crew? Gone in a couple of episodes. Mistrust between Chakotay and Tuvok or Chakotay and Paris? Vanished. Lack of resources? Minimal.

It just meandered.
As I wrote in a reply to another post:

"In the situation they were, the Maquis realized that Voyager was the best chance for them to get home, wether they disliked Starfleet or not."

Otherwise VOY would have been like Stargate Univere where the only thing that happened was a constant arguing between the military faction and the civilian faction on that ship.

Utterly boring and destructive.

I'm happy that VOY never became like that.

Yes, "Warlord" clearly proves Jennifer Lien can act. There is a difference between "So-and-so wasn't afforded enough opportunities." or "The writers let so-and-so down." and "So-and-so lacked acting ability."

Same deal with Garrett Wang and "Timeless".

That's true.

Both Lien and wang could act and their characters could have become much more that they were in the series.

Just look at some of the VOY novels in which both Kes and Kim have more action in the TV series.

Despite that, I find Kes great in the series .

Kim was a bit underdeveloped in the TV series but still likeable.
Have you watched Stargate Universe?

Honestly, I don't think that you would have liked to see something similar in VOY.

It would be interesting, which is simply something you can’t ascribe to Kes in the character’s current form.
As interesting as if Picard would have been turned into an alcoholist, not capable of being captain on a starship or if Kirk would have been turned into some crazy paranoid maniac, killing Scotty for suspecting him of sabotaging the engines or have Riker become a drug addict and finally committing suicide because Troi dumped him for Devinoni Ral.

In other words, a totally uninteresting and disgusting scenario which we can be without.

That episode in season 6 of Voyager was utterly crap and downright insulting.

I wish they'd brought back Kes in PIC and had a scene where she gets her eyes ripped out by the Borg.

Then I wish there was a scene where she just slowly, slowly dies.
You do seem to have some severe problems.
Maybe you should stick to your childish "laughing emojis" instead.

Who have said anything about viewers?
you said you wanted it removed from future DVDs. I honestly think that Fury does show an alternate path for Kes that was always a possibility and its the surprise of it so jarring that it makes it work. It's like a complete betrayal of The Gift and I love it. She's who she was always going to be.
