Wow... ok...

Umm.. I'm tired of MLB.com using the phrase "flirting with history" when a pitcher doesn't allow a hit for four or five innings.

looks like the sox still have life in em, they just scored a 2 run homer
Yeah, but the bullpen is falling apart being pressed into service too early.

Try again tomorrow, I guess--unless the Rays manage to beat Texas.

Rockies end up on the right side of a 2-1 game with the Cards. No clinch for the Cards tonight.

They need to string a few more of them together and start playing well into the postseason

Well, the Red Sox magic number stands at three. I have no concerns about them making the post-season and I'm relieved that Lester had negative X-rays. I'm also glad to see the Sox offense still put runs on the board despite being at a huge disadvantage with Lester leaving the game.

Lester's one tough cookie. I'm sure he'll be back sooner than we think. :)

Braves are pummeling the Nationals already. This should be another easy win today, which will make them 3 games back until the Rockies play tonight.

What the hell? ICHIRO gets ejected? :wtf:

For drawing a fucking line in the dirt with his bat? That ump must have had a bat up his ASS to eject Ichiro for something like that. The poor guy didn't even say anything!!!

This is some kind of fucked up. Of all the players I'd ever expect to get ejected, Ichiro would be just about the last one on the list...

And Dice-K gets hit by a batted ball. A slow one-hopper, so no injury, but what is it with NY these last two days?

Oh, yes, it's all our fault, innit? What, you think we've got some conspiracy to bring your guys down or something? That Yankee batters are just constantly thinking "Now how can we injure one of the Red Sox *this* inning?" It's absurd, and you know it.

From the article:

Suzuki turned his head and said one more thing to Runge as he was escorted off the field by the Seattle skipper.
(emphasis mine)

Bottom line is he showed the umpire up and you can't do that. Drawing a line in the dirt to show him where the ball was is showing the ump up.

My mom's cousin was a catcher, had a short time in the big leagues and he said you could say anything you wanted to the umpire as long as you didn't turn and look at him. Of course this was in the 70's.
