Green Lantern Animated Series Teaser Trailer!

I thought that myself. I can't wait to see some of the constructs in this. I'm sure this will have some kind of presence at comic con this year where we will find out more.

Yay! I'm looking forward to this so much! DC has really outdone themselves in the area of animation and I'm hoping this is the next iteration of that. The trailer seems to indicate that the show will be cosmic based, which is great. As I said in the movie review thread, on Earth, GL is just another hero, but in space, he's unique. I'm also hoping we'll see a lot of the Corps.

Yes this show will very much be Corps driven. There won't be an origin story. Hal is already established in his role. The Red Lanterns led by Atrocious will be the primary villains along with the Manhunters. Bruce Timm also teased the possibility of Blackest Night being depicted later on in the series.

I just don't get all the Atrocitus love. With his own series, a role in the Abin Sur tale in Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, and now the main foil in this show, he certainly has taken center stage. However, for me, he doesn't work as a villain. In the comics, he is more sympathetic than Sinestro, at least to me, what with the destruction of his entire sector, and I would much rather seen Quill in GL: EK than Atrocitus (with the Mogo story being as true to Alan Moore's work as possible, I don't understand why they didn't just animate "Tygers").

And for a TV show ostensibly aimed at kids, Atrocitus and the Red Lanterns are an odd choice. I guess they didn't want to go with the logical choice in Sinestro in case there's a sequel, but that would have made more sense (since Sinestro was a Lantern and yellow/fear is the main weakness of GLs). I'll wait to see how it's handled and it certainly does not diminish my excitement for the show, but I am a bit disappointed in that choice.

Yeah I read somewhere that they had to hold off on using Sinestro as a villain because the movies were using him instead.

Clearly that won't be a problem now though. lol

Yeah I don't get the Atrocious/Red Lantern love either. He's an okay character. I don't remember Timm stating if Sinestro would pop up or not. It seems like the emotional spectrum Lanterns are already established in the series when we start. I wouldn't be surprised if Sinestro already had his Corps.

In my mind, the most villainous players in the GL universe are the Guardians. It was their arrogance or stupidity or cruelty that led to Atrocitus and Larfleeze, and I truly feel that Sinestro has a point.

It seems like if you sit on a Council in the DCU you're pretty much arrogant, neglectful, and egotistical and because of these attributes bad shit happens :) Of course I'm also thinking about the Kryptonian High Council which pretty much thought like the Guardians did and look where that got them :)

Eh, Time Lord Council, too

So, Green Lantern does seem to be raising awareness of itself as a Franchise. Might they try again with a sequel or a rewind/reboot, even if the movie numbers are too low for a sequel by themselves? I'm going to try and follow this, and also probably check out the recently released Animated Movie, it looks really cool, and may be more entertaining than The Live Action Flick, from everything I've read so far :(

^ Honestly I think it's way too early to speculate on the future of the live action franchise right now. It's just opening weekend.

Sindatur, I highly recommend the new animated movie. The anthology-ish approach really worked well and it highlights the greatness that is the Corps and their diverse members. Despite my comments earlier, I did like the Abin Sur story, though in many aspects, it was the weakest. Still, a very strong story being the weakest of the movie speaks volumes for the quality.

I might check this out, but just how much will it be targetted at an adult as opposed to kid market? I like The Clone Wars because the action-oriented stuff is interspersed with character development, politics, social details and mystical hoohah that gives the whole story some depth. Is there anything about Green Lantern to suggest they'd do the same with it?

Found some possible cast listings...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1724587/

Oooh, Tony Todd as the bad guy! :bolian:

I assume "Atrocious" is a bad guy. Oh wait, I read that wrong...Atrocitus. Subtle!

The target demographic is supposed to be the same as "The Clone Wars" I believe. The fact that Bruce Timm is heading this project though probably means that it will be okay for all ages to watch...but we will have to wait and see a full length trailer and maybe even the first episode to make that judgement.

Atrocitus, Sinestro, yeah, that's how it goes. I swear that I'd love to see a GLC member who was of pure virtue but named Violatio, just to mess with readers' assumptions.

I'd say that the majority of the DC animated shows, especially those produced by Bruce Timm, have been along the lines of The Clone Wars in that they are ostensibly aimed at kids, but full of characterization, and plots that would appeal to adults, as much as children.

If the IMDB.com information is correct, they're going to use Guy Gardner, which is awesome. I'm definitely happy for more Kilowog as voiced by Michael Clarke Duncan. I forgot about Dex-Starr being a Red Lantern! An animated Dex-Starr sounds awesome.

For those not in the know, this is Dex-Starr:

You can see why he was nicknamed "Rage Kitty." Also for those not in the know, the Red Lanterns vomit blood. Because the bad guys vomiting blood makes sense in a kid's cartoon.

Thanks

I have Wonder Woman, Superman Doomsday and Gotham Knight, is the new animated movie in this same line of movies?
