Green Lantern Animated Series Teaser Trailer!

In my mind, the most villainous players in the GL universe are the Guardians. It was their arrogance or stupidity or cruelty that led to Atrocitus and Larfleeze, and I truly feel that Sinestro has a point.
The Guardians didn't have anything to do with Larfleeze; he already had his power when they found him, and so they agreed to leave him alone if he stayed where he was.

Sindatur, I highly recommend the new animated movie. The anthology-ish approach really worked well and it highlights the greatness that is the Corps and their diverse members. Despite my comments earlier, I did like the Abin Sur story, though in many aspects, it was the weakest. Still, a very strong story being the weakest of the movie speaks volumes for the quality.
Thanks

I have Wonder Woman, Superman Doomsday and Gotham Knight, is the new animated movie in this same line of movies?

I have not seen Wonder Woman, but I can say, in my opinion, it's better than the latter two.

I was not a fan of Superman: Doomsday, to be honest. However, I did like Gotham Knights, but I agree with the review I heard on iFanboy's pick of the week podcast special review of the DVD, in that GL: EK's use of a framing device around the separate stories, as well as the use of a singular animation style really made it a lot more cohesive movie than Gotham Knights. Though I understand the use of different styles in Gotham Knights it did make it feel uneven and hard to believe that the stories happened in the same "universe." GL: EK is more fluid and helps build the mythos of the Corps.

As always with the DC Animated movies, the voice cast is excellent, starting with Nathan Fillion as Hal. Though I think Michael Clarke Duncan's Kilowog in the movie was a slightly better fit, Henry Rollins did an excellent job here as Kilowog. If it wasn't for hearing MCD as Kilowog first, I think my opinion would have been different.

I'd say that the majority of the DC animated shows, especially those produced by Bruce Timm, have been along the lines of The Clone Wars in that they are ostensibly aimed at kids, but full of characterization, and plots that would appeal to adults, as much as children.

If the IMDB.com information is correct, they're going to use Guy Gardner, which is awesome. I'm definitely happy for more Kilowog as voiced by Michael Clarke Duncan. I forgot about Dex-Starr being a Red Lantern! An animated Dex-Starr sounds awesome.

For those not in the know, this is Dex-Starr:

You can see why he was nicknamed "Rage Kitty." Also for those not in the know, the Red Lanterns vomit blood. Because the bad guys vomiting blood makes sense in a kid's cartoon.
Awesome looking character. Though my Avatar is a Grey Owl Wizard, I am a major cat father (We have 6 Cat children), so any Cat Critter character gets a look from me.

The vomiting blood thing really doesn't fit in with GL as a whole. Everyone of the other regular corps uses light for their attacks.

The Guardians let Larfleeze have the battery after he killed his friends. The simplest and wisest course would have been to simply kill him outright at the beginning, but they decided to let a larcenous, sleazy and murderous being wield the battery that turns one into a being of all-consuming greed just trusting that he would stay in place because they asked him nicely.

Of course, he did stay in place for 5 billion years, which is only because he had enough visitors to Vega to have his greed satisfied by taking them and their possessions. Then when the Controllers and later Stel enter the Vega system, which is the only thing that the GLC had to avoid in order to keep this guy down, he justifiably gets mad. What do the Guardians do? They say that they don't negotiate with terrorists. Ugh, my brain hurts. That kind of stupidity is criminally culpable.

It fits in with the way that Atrocitus's magic works that is through the taking of blood, which he used to forge the red lanterns and which allows him to see the future.

Makes sense to me. One of my cats is nicknamed Barfzilla, for good reason.

HEHE, one of my cats seems to be bulemic, eats like a pig, makes room for more, and eats some more. She's getting better though, incidences of needing to clean up after her are becoming rare.

I've only read a couple of Green Lantern comics when I was young, never read whole stories, just individual books out of order. So, all this Green latern Corps and Red Lantern stuff is all new to me (I do remember some mention of the Guardians, though). Was the mythology that deep back in the mid 1970s?

I know zilch about GL, other than that there have been several human GLs, of which Hal is just one (only one at a time?) and that it appears to be loosely based on Lensmen.

Blastr thinks the show > movie.

Green Lantern: The Animated Series should be appearing on the Cartoon Network on Sept. 5, 2011, at 8 p.m..

When you look at the 30-second clip, your first thought is probably "Hey, this looks like it's just for kids." True, it's aimed at children. But if it has any of the epic struggles that include descending into insanity, the destruction of planets and betrayal from your mentors—in other words, the elements that make Green Lantern great—then it should find a loyal following of all ages.

Kind of amazing to think of all the attention this character has gotten recently-- two really good animated movies, a megabudget live-action movie, and now a Bruce Timm cartoon series.

Definitely an improvement over his less-than-memorable stint on Superfriends, I'd say. lol
