Over The Garden Wall. Considered by many to be essential Autumn viewing, this wonderful masterpiece celebrates it's 10th anniversary this year. I stumbled across an official short film paying tribute to this amazing series, and holy shit, what an amazing tribute! It was the stop motion project I didn't know I wanted and damn if I wouldn't like to see the entire series redone this way as a viewing alternative, it was just that damn good. And that's a Rock Fact! Most of the standout elements of the show get a shout out and every character is there in puppet form in some capacity. Hey, it's just over 3 minutes, but the "sets", scenery and puppets are amazing, the music is just gorgeously done and hit me in the feels. If you're a fan of the show, and missed this wonderful little tribute, well here you go:
And what do you know, they posted a "Making Of" video too!:
And if you've never seen the show, well here's the trailer for the home release and it's the best trailer for the show:
The show starred Elijah Wood, Christopher Lloyd, Tim Curry, John Cleese, Bebe Neuwirth, Chris Isaak, Shirley Jones and Jack Jones (RIP) with songs by the latter two. Great Halloween / Autumn viewing. If you haven't seen it, well....check it out. It's a well crafted, tight story with lots of detail and foreshadowing. It's been called a child's version of Dante's Inferno and there's a crap ton of video's about the myriad influences from vintage animation, music / songs, symbolism, meaning and just what the heck The Unknown is. Sad, and frankly strange, that America never got a blu-ray edition of this mini-series, just DVD. IIRC, only Australia got a BR release.
