Ash vs Evil Dead (new tv series)

It’s back, baby! Season 3 returns tonight.

Remember, Starz usually has new episodes available On Demand all day long on the date of premiere before the episode officially airs.

I didn't really dig it all that much, one part I thought was unnecessary cruel (yeah, I know what show I'm watching) but everything Kelly was obviously awesome and kinda saved it in the end.

I’m not really into turning the trio into a fivesome but we’ll see what happens...

The blonde girl’s face-slicing death was gross and cool at the same time.

A little Five Nights at Freddy’s homage tonight with the mascot?

I wanted to see more of Candy Barr but I guess it wasn’t meant to be. Bruce looked pretty buff in the flashback. Ash’s lucky rubber went 50-0, lol, ew but lol.

“Met my first Linda here.”

The actress playing Brandy gives a pretty believable performance which helps keeps things grounded given the over-the-top nature of the main trio.

Not the greatest episode, but not bad. I thought at first that Ash's wife and daughter would be an artifact of time travel, but it was just a drunken wedding in Vegas that he forgot about. :rommie: I'm not too sure about these new characters, especially the Knight of Whatever guy-- already Pablo and Kelly seemed to not be getting much screen time-- but we'll see.

The AVClub review reminded me of season two's aborted ending with Kelly going to be revealed as Ash's daughter as it's interesting that they started this one with...Ash's daughter.
Ah, that's right. That's probably what had me thinking of altered timelines. I wonder if she'll survive the season or have some special exemption that Ash's other relatives never had.

Trying to avoid mentioning spoilers, the "preview" clips shown at the end of the episode surprised me. A particular character is returning who I just assumed wouldn't, even rather obvious circumstances. Said person even states how this can be.

That vague enough?

The show is really taking no prisoners this season, a lot of likable people meeting untimely ends at the hands of evil.

Lots of "only on Evil Dead" moments in the sperm bank, lol, the hand job demon probably being my favorite.

LL looks pretty good in the counselor get-up but I'm a sucker for that type of look with the glasses and all. Poor Brandy's world is really getting turned upside down.

Well, it's not Fisher. :(

So Ruby's plot is to make her demon baby the next Chosen One by killing not only Ash, but all his progeny or potential progeny-- good luck with that, given Ash's lifestyle over the past forty years-- so that she can... what? Destroy the world? Rule the world? Rule the Deadites? Destroy the Deadites? Do we know?

In any case, I love that Ash's little Midwestern home town has such a thriving sperm bank. :rommie:

The smashed frozen head wasn't quite as memorable as the sliced head in the last episode, but the living murderous centerfold was a classic. :rommie:

Still not much progress on the Knights of Sumeria subplot, but we've got a little action on Pablo's story. That was an interesting vision....

Did everybody remember to watch? We got our surprise character return. It was great to see him, of course (although I'd certainly prefer to see Fisher in the shower), but he didn't last long. And poor Ash just can't catch a break. Teenagers have a way of taking everything the wrong way and just storming out before you can explain why you chopped off their mother's head or disemboweled their grandfather.

The funeral part was hilarious!

Yeah. It’s going to take Brandy almost getting eaten by Ruby’s demon baby for her to finally believe Ash.

Nobody has, so far! It's hard to put my finger on but this season does have a different feel under a new showrunner. For one, I miss the "family" of Ash, Pablo and Kelly, they feel so remote now. As mentioned before, Ruby seems rudderless at the moment, just doing evil things to be evil. It's early, maybe it will come back by the end but it feels a bit off at the moment.

Not that it’s without its moments. Ash is getting so used to this that he just takes a seat after exiting the coffin like nothing happened.

Guess we can add deadite reacharound to the list of Ash's humiliations.

I was surprised to see that Ruby had kept the real Mrs. Prevett alive instead of just killing her. I guess she needs a lot of “food” to feed her demon child.

I hope they find a way to save Pablo from evil, again.

I wonder who is the lady in the necronomicon?
