The rift is however introduced at the end of Evil Dead 2.I never saw Army of Darkness, but I assumed that was a clip from the movie when Ash said something like, "I've had experience with rifts before."

Cliff's Notes. You’ve never seen the movie? How are you following the highly cerebral storyline?
Now that you mention it, I do remember Ash and his car falling out of the sky into a Monty Python movie. The rift is however introduced at the end of Evil Dead 2.
Really? Hmm, okay. I'll see if Amazon Prime has it.You NEED to watch it.
I'm not really sure. It was about one second long, and who knows-- it may not have been an actual clip, but something made for the show. I assumed it was a clip, but I've never seen the movie. So I'm curious, what clips from AoD were in Ash vs Evil Dead? Were they definitely not from the ending to Evil Dead 2? Because from what I understand while the rights have been cleared up I think they have not wanted to have to deal with the rightsholders (presumably DeLaurentis for AoD).
The scene in the tool shed with the possessed cell phone was great (except for Brandy's poor thumb-- too bad that wasn't part of the hallucination) and you could really see that the nut doesn't fall far from the tree.
