^^ That explains it, all right. What a shame when there's conflict like that.
That was definitely a disjointed ending. At first I wasn't sure if they had come back or if they had stayed in the 80s. And then I was thinking that it had to be an illusion of some kind, because things were going too well-- but I guess not.
Whatever Brock was trying to tell Ash, it was something he had tried to tell him before, just before he died-- not doubt it will become important in the next season. Which will also apparently involve Evil Ruby, who must have come forward in time with them. Too bad about Good Ruby. I was also disappointed that the cute college student didn't last very long. At least I didn't have time to get attached to her, like Fisher. I was so hoping that Brock, Cheryl, Chet, and Fisher would follow Pablo up out of the ruins.
There were a couple of loose ends, though. We never found out why things were different in the past. And also note that Ash's newly severed hand scuttled away, no doubt to cause trouble in the future.
All in all, this was a strange finale. Some good stuff, but it left me wanting more, and not in a good way.
