Agents of SHIELD. Season 1 Discussion Thread

Well, it's the second time they've fought. It was fairly similar to the first one. If anything, he was a little more prepared because he came at her with a 2x4. Of course, then she responded with a buzzsaw so he lost that. It kind of went the same as before after that. The only question was whether she pulled her punches the first time, but it's hard to say she did.

On a subject not directly related to "Beginning of the End", I've noticed that on the Marvel Cinematic Universe wiki, the aircraft carrier where the Bus lands in order to pick up Hand, Sitwell, Blake, Garrett, and Triplett back in "End of the Beginning" is labeled as "S.H.I.E.L.D. aircraft carrier" but its image is categorized under "helicarrier".

I never thought of it before but could the aircraft carrier possibly be the repaired helicarrier from The Avengers?

Most likely a Wiki editor just made a mistake.

A mostly good season finale, though I'm not quite sure why F&S tried to escape the pod in the first place, given that they'd already established they'd be in the middle of a watery nowhere with no one looking for them. Faced with such a situation, I'd be much more concerned about boning, myself. (And I'm not talking Fitz's broken arm! Hey-yo!) It would've been much better if they'd decided to bone and then been contacted via radio by Fury, and then it'd be too awkward to. I guess that wouldn't have achieved the plot point of severely messing Fitz up, but really... what was his big plan? To give his beloved lady the honor of getting eaten by a shark without so much as one last climax? And I'm not talking about the end of an episode. Hey-yo!

... Okay, I'll stop now. :p

I think you accidentally added a comma in that last sentence.

Hey-yo!

i don't think sex is really all that enjoyable when your arm is broken and it's not at all set.

... Okay, I'll stop now. :p

Oh -- I sincerely hope so!

So, they're a continuous explosion between the ages of 51 and 59?
I'm thinking it's a typo and it's more or less instantaneous. I'm assuming I'll be watching the show next season, the camera will cut from her to another character, cut back five seconds later and all of a sudden she'll look like Kim Jong Il.

The key thing to remember about that pod is that at the time they got into into it is that it did *not* contain a highly trained killer and former team-mate turned sociopath out to kill them. That plus the very thick glass and very lockable door made it a very appealing place to be indeed. ;)

As you know that the mobile phone signal jammer can cut off the signals of the mobile phones and soon make it impossible to make phone calls or send messages. In this way when you need the peaceful condition and want to stay in it, you can just use the best mobile phone jammer to help you achieve your goal. And now as the technology develops with high speed the advanced gps signal blocker has come into the market and are well welcomed by the group of people who need the jammer product.
I am the eggman.

They are the eggmen.

I am the Walrus.

Goo goo goo joob.

So, probably something around a 4 or 4 and a half month wait until more Agents Of Shield.

I'm going to crawl into the deep freeze in the garage.

Can someone call the paramedics in 5 months to pull me out and start the thawing process?

In Angel Fred was a great, but Illyria was even better :)
I cannot even begin to describe how much I hate the Illyria thing. :rommie:

I loved that Samuel L Jackson wasn't "too big" to make an appearance on a TV show. His presense rather than someone just talking about him really made this episode (and season) for me.
Yeah, he seems like a good guy who's invested in his character and the big picture.

The showdown with May was pretty cringe-worthy, but it was the only bad moment in the episode, really.

Utterly disagree. I wanted Ward's ass kicked and May provided that with interest. :D

I guess the cringe comes from the PC moment of a 50 year old woman, even The Cavalry, taking down a fighting man in his prime. Perhaps the Berserker staff made her into a Buffy, but we would have had to come to the conclusion on our own from seeing that particular episode.
Actually, the fight was fine. I was talking about the "You slept with her and she's pissed" and "You were never on top." May is more together than that (mostly-- there was a similar cringe-worthy moment in the Sif episode, I think).

Just curious, how far behind are the European viewers in AoS? Has the season finale aired over there yet?

I had another thought of an angle they might play with Ward....What if he fell into the hands of the U.S. government and worked with Talbot against Coulson's team...?

That's not bad. I don't see Coulson taking Ward back but the U.S. government would love to get their hands on him.

Wondering about how the trials are going to work out. Ward's the highest-ranking member of that cell to survive being apprehended, right?

Also, witnesses needed for the convictions to stick. So, Coulson and company are going to have to show up to testify.

^Thanks. I hope oversea viewers continue to post in here as the episodes come. I know this thread is spoiler heavy (thanks to me too) but I'm always up to hearing thoughts on topics I enjoy.

I suspect Ward will end up working with the team again for the clichéd "There's only one man who can help us with this job and he's in prison" storyline. The Talbot idea is a good one though.

Given that they made sure we understood Ward is broken and psychologically conditioned to need orders, specifically from Garrett. It may take a long time to break the conditioning, but perhps it can be refocused. While he was undercover in Coulson's team, he did take orders from Coulson so maybe they will beable to get him to accept his orders from Coulson.

They may not trust Ward, but there could be situations where they can definitely use him.

Hopefully they won't turn Ward into Tom Neville. Always working for the other guys but somehow also always with our team.

I thought that was it, too. I didn't think sheild would bother with just a plain old aircraft carrier that didn't fly, what the hell good would that be?

Even though I really hate the thought of rehabilitating Ward, did he really do anything worse that Black Widow? She was a high level operative in shield, not part of Hydra, and guilty of things. So, I'm not sure what way they will go with this one.

Can't we just be done with Ward? His stint as a baddie redeemed the character as a lead player in S1, but I'm perfectly fine with forgetting about him for a while...
