Agents of SHIELD. Season 1 Discussion Thread

I know they were renewed for a new season but going into it, they didn't know that. Anyone else think the season finale will end with a disbanding of the team (with the end of SHIELD and the resignation and all)? Next season could be the reformation.

I've just been figuring that the season would end with the team having a mission of re-establishing SHIELD's good name. And that while the mega-entity of SHIELD is gone, SHIELD is now just Coulson and his people.

That's what I expect---turning Coulson and his crew into The A-Team, trying to fight the baddies and prove to the world that SHIELD is really a good thing.

But who's gonna pay their bills, gonna pay their automobills, gonna pay their telephone bills, gonna pay their Bus fuel bills?!

Stark now has a personal, bloody and vested interest in seeing HYDRA dead or jailed. He's certainly got personal financial resources, tech skills, and political reach.

Fury, officially dead or not, can still trade favours from deep cover.

There's one surviving member of the World Security Council, Hawley, who has a personal debt to Natasha Romanova for saving her life from Alexander Pierce. We don't know what she might be able to call upon.

And wasn't Coulson trying to network with people at the UN before Talbot prompted him to enact the Odyssey Protocol?

What else in the SHIELD reorg toolkit?

A solid PR campaign.

Completely caught-up on the DVR now!

Wow, interesting series of episodes!

Look forward to where the season finale leaves us!

This is exactly what I'm hoping for-- Fury will show up and give Coulson the mandate to raise SHIELD from the ashes. He moved Heaven and Earth to revive him because he knew that he was the only man for the job.

^A job he resigned before the Avengers, I take it. Under the assumption that the finale was finished before the series was renewed, I'm sticking with the belief that the team will disband (with a regrouping next season).

If your suggestion is that they would have treated it as a possible season finale, that's contradicted by them saying they'd leave some loose ends and would have tried to make a movie if it hadn't been renewed.

I suspect that at least part of season 2 will involve the team rounding up the bad guys that Garrett released from The Fridge while Fury and Hill will work behind the scenes to re-build SHIELD.
