Agents of SHIELD. Season 1 Discussion Thread

I wonder if HYDRA in the MCU in the 2010s is a highly cohesive organization or if people like Garrett could possibly break off and form their own organization(s).
Isn't that pretty much what already (appears to have) happened with Baron Strucker and his group working with the "miracle" twins?.

At least we know the super awesome lie detector works, but it's only as good as its user. They struck a nice balance there between having the detector work and having Ward pass.

Loved that shot at the end with Skye sitting in the cockpit looking out at the sunrise. Best escape/kidnapping scene ever.

And Amy Acker fits with my expectations for the infamous Cellist.

Yep, Ward is officially 100% more interesting as a bad guy. Loved his storyline tonight even thought it meant the death of Patton Oswalt's character. Even the things with Skye went off fine. SkyWard is actually an interesting relationship now.

Really enjoyed the interrogation scene, which was a good character piece for the actors. And hey, Simmons is a Whovian!

So May was married and we meet her mother, who I assume is CIA or Chinese Intelligence?

I didn't care for Coulson's "white knight" relationship storyline. Seemed like a waste of Amy Acker.

The actor playing Daniels was lousy. Though I did like the "Ghostbusters" weapons they used to stop him.

Well that was quite an episode.

I like how they're breaking the team up here, really appropriate for this point in the storyline.

The Fitz/Simmons non-relationship is in a bit of a precarious position right now. If Fitz doesn't act fast, Triplett is going to steal her right out from underneath his nose.

So what agency does May's mom work for? And does May really just want to talk to Maria Hill?

Can't blame Coulson for not wanting to involve Audrey (was that her name?) in his current goings-on. That said, should this show get renewed for season 2, I think mister Blackout will pull himself back together and force Coulson to make a return trip to Portland.

I really enjoyed tonight's episode. It really added a lot to the characters that we've slowly gotten to know over the past season.

I turned to my son and said, "The Doctor," shortly before Simmons said, "The Tardis." Good taste, Jemma!

I'm disappointed that we didn't get the chance to see Clark Gregg and Amy Acker playing off each other. They barely interacted. Hopefully this isn't the last we'll see of Audrey.

So Triplett is the grandson of a Howling Commando? Presumably Gabe Jones. That makes me even more confident that he's going to be a regular. They wouldn't give a pedigree like that to someone they didn't plan to keep around.

Anyone catch the spelling of May's middle name on closed captioning? It was definitely Chinese, but I couldn't quite make it out. And I assume the woman who picked her up in the car is her mother.

I felt Skye handled things well once she figured out the truth about Ward. I liked it that she figured out the purpose of the penny (Ward put it atop the door so he'd know whether the door had been opened) and put it back. I hope she has a plan for dealing with him, though. We saw her looking speculatively at one of the "windows" projecting outside views. I bet she hacked it to display a message for the others after a certain time, something like WARD IS HYDRA -- KILLED KOENIG.

I liked Coulson's sarcastic line about how if Bruce Banner invented the tech, it was bound to work without a hitch.

Maybe, but at this point in the show I'm ready for anything and everything to be a fake-out. Perhaps I'm being too paranoid.

Ah, thanks, I was wondering what the deal with that fake window was. I figured she should have left some sort of message or warning for the others, but for some reason I couldn't add 2 and 2 together there.

Well, that and Ward kinda torpedoed his last chance right there. The only way Ward can come back at this point, it seems, is if Skye dies without telling everyone what she found out.

ETA: He might die, I suppose, but that would be really sad. There's still a chance for Mike to join the team, of course.

Three.

1x20: "Nothing Personal" (April 29)
1x21: "Ragtag" (May 6)
1x22: "Beginning of the End" (May 13)

I am so ready to watch those three episodes right now.

And I so want there to be more than just three. On the chance the show doesn't get renewed, I really hope Jed, Maurissa, Jeffrey, and/or Joss give us some monthly comics featuring these characters.

I forgot that they are video windows. I was thinking maybe she wrote a message and left her lanyard there. That would alert them to look in the bathroom.
