Agents of SHIELD. Season 1 Discussion Thread

Kirk didn't quite have that choice, though

Even if we have an idea how it'll end, I have no idea what'll come next.

ETA: ninja'd

So did Coulson and his team kill two SHIELD operatives to save their little snowflake? Because that's kind of what it looked like.

Great introduction to Lorelei.

No, those weren't Shield agents. But yeah, they killed 2 people to save Skye.

Great introduction to Lorelei.
How many times has the little stinger at the end directly set up the next episode? Not very often that I can recall. Good to keep mixing it up.

It was a good teaser.

So the team essentially murdered two people to save Skye? The writers really need to stop with their Skye fetish. It is literally dragging down every character on this show.

So, anyone have anything good for G.H. yet? It's not Gabe Haller. And it's definitely not Glob Herman.

Worked up a spell-out for the acronym:

Technical Ambulance-Hospital Initiative, Tactical Instigation.

Use it or don't, as you like.

G.H. has to be a clue.
I wiki'd Marvel Alien Races and one that starts with a 'G' has ties to Silver Age Thor but not sure that means anything. There is no logical 'H' for the Gramosians.

Killing the guards did seem highly out of character. Why not the night-night gun.
That bit of writing is the one weak spot in an otherwise strong episode.

I appreciated that Coulson didn't now what Deathlok was when they could've rolled with as if he did due to clearance or what have you.

Episode on the DVR, actually so is the last episode. I need to watch them. Though I may be losing interest in the series.

Anyway, on the topic of episode titles. It's not too uncommon for TV shows to sometimes have a "gimmick" when it comes to the naming conventions of the series. (Though I've seen this more with sit-coms than hour-long drama/action series.) The thing is it's better as a gimmick if you always do it. SHIELD has had a variety of episode titles without a "gimmicK" other than the couple of times we've had these forced acronyms. So, SHIELD, either do it or don't!

Not SHIELD operatives. They did kill them, but they also gave lots of chances to avoid the situation. It might be a small difference, but it is a difference.

^^^Under what bizzaro legal system does that make sense?

...Oh yeah, Marvel's.
Let's not lose track of exactly what happened here. Coulson and team did not shoot their way in. They entered seeking help and encountered hostile fire.
