I was thinking the same thing, except I assume Stan Lee plotted the scene. And we all know that Stan's an expert in hot air...

I wouldn't be surprised if Kirby came up with that. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Kirby came up with that whole sequence and all Lee did was the dialog.

As I understand it, the common practice in those days was for Stan and his artist to brainstorm the general plot of the story, then the artist fleshed out the panel-by-panel beats of the story visually, then Stan did the dialogue. This really shows when Stan was working with a weaker artist, because it's reflected in the relative quality of the stories. Or even when, say, Kirby did the odd Spider-Man story...even though Stan was writing the dialogue, Spidey would act completely out of character. So I assume that a visual detail like the air bag was something that Jack came up with.

I know it was in the comics first but when it comes to live action (and theatrical finishes like that) someone who was a kid during BttF can't help but to be reminded of it.

You mean you weren't thinking of a comic or movie you'd never seen made decades before you were born?

I think there is a big difference between 'when I saw this I thought of Back to the Future' and 'they did this as an homage to Back to the Future'.

The original Nick Fury is still around and is still white. However, they recently introduced a son, Nick Fury Jr, who matches the description of movie Fury. Fury Sr is an independent operator with his own resources these days, while Fury Jr works with SHIELD and Coulson and Maria Hill.

You will recall that Ultimate Nick Fury was a test subject for Captain America, and has the an identical powerset to Ultimate Captain America... Besides, Sam read/liked Ultimates, he was going to be the next Nick Fury, and god help the poor son of a bitch who got in his way.

Clooney was almost Nick Fury, until he read Garth Ennis' take on the character and took a couple steps back.

Yeah that Fury MAX series... which in a lot of ways would be more what Nick Fury would have and should have been in the real world - but yeah I can see Clooney going 'yeah I'm not crazy about that guy.' after reading that.

And really Fury is, was, and always will be sort of a dick with an eye patch.

But what I am rather interested in seeing is if they'll try to integrate this rumored Agent Carter show with AoS since - if you watched that One Shot on the Iron Man 3 DVD - they set her up as helping to run SHIELD with Howard Stark and Dum Dum Dugan.

So I wonder if a) they'll just do it as a sort of show within a show or b) it's going to be a webisode type thing. Although honestly I think I could totally do with 13 episodes a year of Haley Atwell kicking ass.

I just have one question: is the doctor in hospital just left hanging unresolved? Or will that be followed through in later episodes?

I thought it was good but not spectacular. I mean, given the MCU setting and the Whedon involvement, it ought to have been a lot better than what we got. Obviously I'll hang around to see if it gets better (pilots are usually hit and miss affairs) but other than its connection to the Avengers and Clark Gregg's wonderful deadpan delivery, it doesn't have a lot to distinguish it from other generic secret organisation shows. Some of the dialogue was very good but it didn't quite sing like Whedon at his best.

As for Coulson, my bet is the original did die and this is a clone with his memories downloaded into him.

The doctor got out of the hospital, and in the climax at Union Station she sent in a hitman disguised as a cop to take out Mike. That was the guy Melinda May beat up in, like, eight seconds. After that, the doctor drove away. I don't know whether we'll see her specifically again, but no doubt the shadowy organization behind her will be a major part of the season arc.

I'm still calling them action guy, nerd girl 1 and nerd girl 2.

Not because I'm stupid, even though it helps, but because there's no point becoming invested in something that SHOULD be cancelled. It won't be cancelled, but it should be cancelled.

Did he have any real screen focus before TNG season 4's Data's Day? Sure, he was there, but I'm talking about the fricking lime light.

But when we're young, we learn names.

It's conceivable to imagine relationships lasting forever.

After that's proved wrong a couple hundred times, ones heart turns a lovely shade of black.

They faked O'Brien as a second tier character half way though Season 4 TNG during preproduction of DS9. They only gave him a wife and more lines than "Energising sir" because they were grooming him for his heroic exit after season 5.

It's not an over reaction right now to say that I feel mildly raped.

That's how I am with every show. Sometimes I'm amazed at how people can pick up names, especially the odd ones, so quickly.
