Sometimes I wonder if Queen Amidala and Padme should've been separate characters in TPM vs the decoy route they went. Maybe the audience thinks Queen Amidala is the important character that will save her people, but it ends up being this handmaiden who rises up and does that. In a way it parallels Anakin and Luke's underdog characterization in their first films.

although what if on dozens of different alternate earths in the multiverse there verisons of the star wars prequel trilogy did have queen amidala and padme as 2 different people or even as twins

well there are most likely star wars movies fan fiction stories where jar jar binks got seduced to the dark side and turned into a sith
